Every aspect of society is covered, from the treatment of women, to the economic implications of the appoinment of Goering and sacking of Schacht, and also the horrifying implications of "The Final Solution" for those races viewed as "inferior" by the Nazis.
All coverage is particularly pleasing to read, being both enlightening and powerful; clearly being backed up with facts and legitimate sources. I particularly enjoyed the source material and notes on aspects of society such as culture, it was informative and useful to my research as a history student.
Advantages: Huge amount of information, lots of sources, one volume. Disadvantages: Long, boring, poorly written, disjointed.
Nazi Germany is one of the most analysed periods of history, with which historical and popular society seems to hold a strange obsession. There are hundreds of books considering pretty much every aspect of the terrible regime, and propounding all sorts of unlikely theories. One might be forgiven therefore for thinking the subject exhausted, but each year more literature adds to those hundreds of books and articles already written, among them "The ThirdReich: A New History" by MichaelBurleigh (distinguished research Professor at Cardiff University).
