    Advantages Advantages Classic Agatha

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too short

As an avid Agatha Christie fan, I have to say that I prefer Miss Marple to the more flamboyant Poirot, although both are uttely wonderful. For Miss Marple fans, this is a real treat. At a dinner party she attends, each guest is invited to come up with an "impossible" story. Some of them are completely baffling such as the tale of "The Idol House of Astarte", which at first telling just HAS to be a rattling good ghost story. Our Miss Marple solves it, to thie surpise of those who don't know what a sharp minded old bird she is. My particular favourite of all the stories, any of which by the way ... more

Advantages Advantages 13 gems that you can leave midway but still have reached a finishing point

I really do not like short stories at all and never buy them as I always feel cheated because there is insufficient detail or unexplained loose ends. The thirteen problems was a present from my mother and I felt I should at least look like I was interested so I read the first story. I was quite shocked at how much I enjoyed it and how rounded the story was. Christie has cleverly set the scene as a story telling at a dinner party and has thus got around the need for thirteen different starts and backgrounds and enables a diving into the facts straight away which gives every tale a crisp edge to ... more

She also feels that her mother's name should be cleared especially in the llight of becoming a mother herself in the future. She approaches Hercule Poirot to help her and being fascinated he agrees. He has to interview all the people who had anything to do with the ... more

Advantages Advantages Short (but in no way less compelling) than the full length Christies but which will take a fraction of the time to read. dive in and out whenever you feel like a good old murder!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't have the same appeal as sitting in front a roaring fire with your mug of cocco reading a full book with all the minor points left in.

For when you want all the suspence, drama, suprise and muder of a full length Christie, but in half an hour. Each one of these Miss Marple mysteries are up to Christie's best, with the pure ingenious plots taking your breath away. From wallpaper that changes colour, murders which nobody would ever notice to self-driving cars, Miss Marple lays her finger on the guilty party sitting in her armchair in fromt of the fire, whilst the cream of society are left baffled. most of the stories in this book would make full length novels, and yet they are condensed into 10 pages each. A first class ... more
