Since going to uni I’ve bought it occasionally and think it’s great value (I would buy it more often but my locker at work’s too small to hold it so I only get it if the newsagents have any copies left at 5.30pm when I’m heading back to campus).

Ever since I can remember, Sundays in our house meant 2 things: Pain au chocolat for breakfast and the Sunday Times being fetched by me from the shop before my mother woke up. Since going to uni I’ve bought it occasionally and think it’s great value (I would buy it more often but my locker at work’s too small to hold it so I only get it if the newsagents have any copies left at 5.30pm when I’m heading back to campus).
The paper contains the following sections :
News / front bit : All the important developments in the international world over recent days
News Review : Not breaking headlines so much as opinion pieces on stories that have been in the news a lot recently, with more detail than a news article and written from a different persepective
Money : Well, it’s about money – money news, share and savings rates and a money analysis on a “famous” person who, more often than not, will have more money than they know what to do with
Business : I used to read bits of this section when I was in 6th form and pretend it was revision for Business Studies. Lots of lovely articles and profiles on the business world including salary details (read an article on Belinda Earl – Debenhams’ CEO which, among other things, told me what uni she was at (Aberysywth – sorry, no idea how it’s spelt) and what she was currently reading (a Harry Potter book)
Travel : my favourite part. Details of special offers, investigations into different firms, a Q and A section and pages of adverts for cheap flights to everywhere and expensive accommodation for when you get there
Property : Ever wanted a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) home here or abroad? This is the place to find it. Great comparison section along the lines of “For x GBP you could have a nice 1 bedroom place in London, a family home in East Anglia or a 5 story castle in Birmingham (if they have such things there). Lots of private ads as well if agencies are not for you.
Magazine : including “features” for the less serious reader, cross words, quizes and special offers (“buy these wonderful hand crafted garden chairs for just 10 000 pounds, plus p&p of course”) as well as a “life in the day” section which features everyone from obscure Japanese business men to Paul McCartney. Oh, and horoscopes.
Doors : A new-ish section about the internet featuring new gadgets, a q and a section and buyers guides
Culture : includes TV listings for the week as well as info about films and performances up and down the country
Style : For the stylish reader.... details of “in” fashions, latest make up releases, fitness tips and, the best part by far, Mrs Mills column on etiquette etc
Books : Again as the name would suggest, it’s about books. New releases are reviewed and authors interviewed
Funday Times : Fun for kids (and big kids) with competitions and cartoons and star interviews
Motoring : About cars I would imagine – never read it
Sports : Ditto, but about sport..... Appointments : Job opportunities split by sector (education, health etc), I’ve been reading these for years strangely enough, and wondering if I had the skills required to get that PriceWaterhouseCoopers job that was offering 90 K and a company car. Maybe in a few years when I graduate ..... :)
As you can see, there’s a lot in the Sunday Times which means that for me anyway, it gives a weeks reading for just over a pound. I would recommend it to anyone, no matter what your usual paper preference as a great, informative, easy to read alternative.
One word of warning though : if you have broadsheets delivered, think of your poor paper person and give them a great big tip at Christmas or you may end up with ripped papers in the new year. I delivered for 4 years and one house had 3 broadsheets delivered every Sunday which was hell – you know who you are Mr 62 Newbury Rd......

...reading material. While most of the other lads were ogling the page 3 girls in the Sun, I would be reading The Scotsman. I thank my late father for this, as he drummed it into me from a young age that there was a huge difference in the way the newspapers report an event or a news item, and that I should read papers that tend to give a fairly factual account, and then make up my own mind as to what I wanted or didn’t want to believe. ~ ~ My ... ...shadow of a doubt The Sunday Times. That it should be published by the same group that also produce such a horrendous piece of garbage as The Sun, only goes to show that the “almighty buck” rules above all else, and that some people in this world of ours will go to any lengths to enhance their own personal fortunes. ~ ~ So why is it my favourite? Quite simply because I believe that it is not only the best newspaper for straight news and ...

Advantages: Authoritative news and features, good price Disadvantages: Alleged Rupert Murdoch-influenced editorial control
The Times has a reputation of being the establishment newspaper, very Tory and read by vicars and barristers. Above all boring and rather dull, full of law reports and business news. That was certainly my impression but I discovered when I began to read it that Rupert Murdoch the proprietor has modernised the paper and broadened its appeal. I’m not saying he’s transformed it into a high-brow Sun, but certainly its no longer stuffy and ... ...to rotate around several of the better quality papers. But recently I’ve been taking The Times, and not just because it only costs 35p, but because I’ve found it quite entertaining and lively, yet also with enough food for thought to keep me interested.
The paper comes in two sections every day, with Times 2 being tabloid size, and containing most of the features like health, women’s’ pages, television and so on. Also, each ...

...when I went to wash the car abd buy the bacon and eggs for breakfast I decided to pick up a copy of the Times, this was mainly due to the free U2 CD that Alex was whimpering about when I left! ...that intelligent. I am not the brightest star in the intellectual galaxy. I am not an all knowing beaming beacon of all intelligence; in fact my mathematical skills are so rudimentary I could sit there and just break down in tears when faced with any sort of number orientated problem or equation. If this is so then why on earth do I read The Times?

Some analysis does read like stereo instructions but not unlike reading basic French, you will start to get the point of a certain article - and it fills you with a sense of achievement when you finally do start to decipher, what can only be described as Shakespearean tongue, in some circumstances into a perfectly reasonable argument.
Value for money is paramount ...

Advantages: None that I can think of Disadvantages: A lack of focus and interesting viewpoints
The title above really does sum up my feelings about this paper. Once renowned as a great paper, The Times' reputation has been, in my opinion, ruined of late. I used to enjoy The Times once, but in recent years it has gone significantly downhill - the writing style has been stinted or 'dumbed-down' to the point where it smacks of patronisation. I hesitate to suggest that the change of ownership (to News Corp, a company of Rupert Murdoch), and the ... ...problems with the paper do seem to have started at that point, which is a pity.
The paper is now a quite bland and boring diatribe, and never really engages my interest save for a very few of the writers (Matthew Parris' Parlimentary Sketch is very good), and, of course, the letters page (which is often very good indeed). I have now moved my custom to the Financial Times which, despite its name, is very good indeed for news and analysis, not just ...

Advantages: Illustrated topical serious current affairs articles Disadvantages: US voice, very little "feel-good" factor
I would never have chosen to subscribe to Time Magazine, but it happened like this: PC Plus magazine ran a promotion for a new Business magazine that sounded interesting so I signed up for it. As often happens with new publications, it flopped after a few editions. As ?compensation? I was provided with a free 3-month subscription to Time which I have enjoyed since. As most of you will be aware, Time Magazine is widely available on newsstands. It?s characterized by a cover with a red border and ?TIME? written in bold letters about 2? high.
?Enjoyed? is perhaps the wrong word to use in the above context. Events in the Middle East and Iraq have so dominated current political and business affairs over the past few months that the material covered has had very little associated feel-good factor. Although the regular format ...

Timmy Time.............
Timmy Time is a new programme that is aired on the cbeebies channel. It is shown at 9 am and repeated again later in the afternoon and is so enjoyable Jack doesn't mind watching it over and over again.
It is from the makers of the well known Shaun the sheep but Timmy is a younger lamb who attends nursery school with all his small animal friends. He has a friend who is a pig, an owl, another lamb a cat and a hedgehog.
There are no words in the programme but the animals make the associated noise such as the pig snorts a lot in the right places giving you an idea of what would be said if they were talking. The stories are easy to follow and in my opinion doesn't need any words.
The theme tune is very catchy just as the Shaun the sheep one was and Jack goes mad when it comes on as it is a show that ...

~~~ INTRODUCTION ~~~
Time Europe is a weekly publication published by Time Warner Publishing. Different publications are produced for specific international audiences. The magazine is generally promoted via subscription and is predominantly concerned with current affairs, politics and current issues of the day.
I must admit that this is not a magazine that I would ordinarily be drawn to, but ended up with a six-month free subscription through AOL, my Internet Service Provider.
~~~ CONTENT ~~~
This is a glossy publication marketed as the number one news magazine world wide and with circulation figures of in excess of 30 million that?s easy to understand why! Despite extensive searching, I cannot find a definition of who the target audience is for this publication. However, common sense tells me that this is a publication ...
