THE TWITS

When I was little I used to love all the books that Roald Dahl has written. I liked how they are so lively and wild, and the way in which they are written is easy to understand but not too easy, so not patronising if you get what I mean. When you read his books, it feels as though he is talking to you. This is one of the things that makes the story so engaging and makes you never want to put the book down.

The Twits is no exception. It is funny, crazy and extremely entertaining. It is about two twits - an old woman, who is described as the ugliest old hag you have ever seen, and an old man, who is described as having a very hairy face, a beard full of old bits of food that has been there for months, because he is so disgusting that he never washes. As Roald Dahl puts it, they are twits. Their names are Mr and Mrs Twit.

Roald Dahl goes into detail about the horrible tricks that Mr and Mrs Twit play on each other. Even though they are married, they hate each other and would love to see the backs of one another. They do evil things to each other, for example Mr Twit puts a frog in Mrs Twit's bed, and Mrs Twit gives Mr Twit a plate of worms, disguised as spaghetti. The tricks are really funny and all children would find reading about them hilarious.

One day though, they are played a trick on by someone else.
The Roly-Poly Bird and the Muggle-Wump monkeys decide to play a really brilliant rick on them - to find out what it is though you will have to read the book for yourself!

I would definitely recommend this book for all children. I really love the idea behind it; two old horrible twits who are disgusting and really hate each other! And I really love the way this is written, not to mention the fantastic illustrations done by Quentin Blake that I really think help bring this book and the rest of Roald Dahl's childrens books to life.

I have the version of this paperback book that is published by Puffin. The UK RRP on the back is £4.99. It is also available on amazon for £3.53.

(By the way ignore the specific criteria, it is wrong, as this is a paperback book and not an audio)
Thanks for reading xo
