The book is written by Anne Rice who has written many other books in the vampire chronicles but for me this is the best! the authors writing style could be described as romantic as you can feel the emotion of the characters the love and hate for the world flows through every page creating a world in your head that you can actually relate to.

...favourite authors. A lot of the credit comes from the fact that she is the clever lady who created the fascinating character Lestat and the Vampire Lestat, second book from the Vampire chronicles, has to be the one I like the most. Those who have read Interview with the Vampire will also find this one a good read. In Interview, you can get a glimspe of this intresting character from the point of view of Louis, "the vampire with a soul"-well sometimes ... ...and how he cope with the power and loneliness of immortality. It also described some of the adventures he had with other undead such as Nicholas, Gabriel(his mum) and most of all Armand, the vampire with the face of a young boy. It fills in a lot of the answers you may have from Interview. You will understand how and why he became who he was. A highly recommended read after reading Interview. ...

...fact, this story directly inspired the name of the band Savage Garden
Wow, what a story. this is one of my favourite stories of all time. It is one of my MUST OWNs, this book and story put me into a 4 month reading binge where nothing else mattered to me but continuing the story with the characters, and buying every other book of this series +- 10 books.
Wow, this story has become more than just a tale, it has become a life philosophy for me. one ... ...and understand). It appeals to the darker side of everyone, anybody with any interest in immortality, the darkness of life, and behemian lifestyles, the story, strangely enough cover most, if not all, aspects of love in its own way.

Reviews which might be of interest for "The Vampire Lestat - Anne Rice"
Advantages: Takes all of the good aspects of 'Interview with a Vampire', and suffuses them with the joy and passions of the inimitable Lestat. Disadvantages: Not really 'pure horror', more darkly gothic atmosphere.
'The VampireLestat' was the sequel to the radical 'Interview with the Vampire', and was the cement that made the AnneRicevampire machine take true root in the subconscious. A better book by far (though the first too was very good), the difference lies mostly in the narrator. Where Louis, the interviewee of the title in the first, was made solemn and guilt-wracked by his undead condition, Lestat is wild, impetuous and joyful.
Those who read the first will remember Lestat, the vampire who turned Louis in the first place, and his companion for many years. By the end of novel the first, Lestat was in poor condition, made pathetic by his inability to comprehend the vast changes that the 20th Century had brought to the world. At the start of 'The VampireLestat', he gets the hang of it, and embraces it with maniacal joy. The excuse ...
Advantages: Suspense and drama in the usual style by Ms Rice Disadvantages: None
I tell no fibs, honestly. Would I use a cheap trick like that?
Following on from Interview with the Vampire, AnneRice wrote The VampireLestat as the second part of The Vampire Chronicles.
As a quick recap (but if you haven’t read Interview with the Vampire or seen the film, this will mean nothing to you!), Lestat was Louis’ creator in Interview with the Vampire and well, wasn’t considered to be a popular ‘vamp’ by Louis in his narration. Lestat was regarded by Louis, as a bit secretive fellow who wouldn’t tell of the vampire secrets that Louis new that he knew (if you see what I mean). Louis and Claudia (another child of the devil-spawn, Lestat who was this time a real child) got a bit upset by this, felt Lestat was a nasty bit of work, and too possessive by far and tried to kill him – ...
Advantages: An amazing believable world, Can't put it down! Disadvantages: Can't put it down!
I decided to start writing about the Vampire Chronicles at the second one! Odd maybe, but an Interview with a Vampire, the first book of the series, is very well known now, especially after the release of the film. I decided to start with the next one along, The VampireLestat, as I felt that this is where you can really start to enter the world that AnneRice has created.
So what are the Vampire Chronicles? The Vampire Chronicles are based around Lestat de Lioncourt, the Brat Prince, as he is called by some of the older vampires. Although an Interview with a Vampire began with Louis Pont du Lac, it is Lestat who is the central figure for the Chronicles. I will explain more later!
The VampireLestat begins in the mid 1980's where Lestat is woken by listening to a rock band playing nearby. He tells you how the world looks ...
