wags - n.pl. - the wives and girlfriends of an all-male sports team
There is a bit of a nationwide fascination with WAGs these days isn't there? There are pages in magazines devoted to these wives and girlfriends of football players. People are glued to the latest fashions, diets and personal lives of women like Posh Spice (the Queen of all WAGs), Colleen McLoughlin (the one who goes out with the ugliest guy in football Wayne Rooney), Cheryl Cole ... ...see her in magazines all the time). With the exception of Posh and Cheryl, these girls were rarely famous until their relationship with a football star comes to light. So their relationship really IS their career.
Personally I don't really get the fascination with WAGs. Okay, they get to go shopping all day, I'd love that, don't get me wrong. But I HATE football and most football players are constantly being hounded by WAG wannabes looking to steal ...

Advantages: hysterical, wonderful. I love Tracie Martin Disadvantages: none
...because I thought it was the funniest book I had ever read. I liked Bridget Jones a lot, and I thought the Shopaholic books were funny, but not like this. This character is so funny and there were so many jokes and daft things happening that it must have taken years to write. I keep laughing about the things I read in it like when she got her car extensions caught in the car door, and was running alongside the car as it was driving off, banging on ... ...on her Nan. It wasn't the usual sort of humour - this was roaring with laughter humour that had me crying as I was reading. I can't imagine how hard it must be to do that. I mean even when I watch Vicar of Dibley or something like that I don't laugh as much as I did at this. Really funny stuff. I would say go and buy it it will definietly make your day. ...

Advantages: It's very funny, well crafted and involves a comedy character that breaks the mould! Disadvantages: There were no disadvantages. The book was great.
I agree with the previous review that this was a very, very funny book. The lovely story (and I cried too!) was chopped and changed with the very funny Wag's Handbook that Tracie found herself writing. The Handbook eventually propelled her to the sort of fame she'd always wanted but the problems kept coming. I loved the fact that Tracie was so knowing - she was a Wag through and through, but still very appealing and very funny. I just think this ... ...like Ab Fab and Vicar of Dibley on the page. No other character comes close to being as funny. Loved it. Highly recommend it to everyone who wants a book that moves them and makes them laugh our loud. Let's be honest - that's all of us, isn't it? lol ...
