armies of the night number 100,000; they outnumber the police 5 to 1; and tonight they're after the Warriors - a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader's death. This contemporary action-adventure story takes place at night, underground, in the sub-culture of gang warfare that rages from Coney Island to Manhattan to the Bronx. Members of the Warriors fight for their lives, seek to survive in the urban jungle and learn the meaning of loyalty. This intense and stylized film is a dazzling achievement for cinematographer Andrew Laszlo.

score that would stay on the right side of melancholy. Having taken pains to elicit convincing results from his actors, director Peter Kosminsky (with whom Debbie Wiseman had previously worked on The Dying Of The Light) knew that semi-tragic would be the correct tone. And once again Wiseman has pulled a rabbit out of one of her many hats. By layering ethnic flutes and voices into her score, she adds an otherworldly distance to the music. It relates to the action in its desired sad tone, while avoiding the emotive familiarity of the strings in, for example, her score for Wilde. Her themes are made the more memorable for being presented in these unpredictable formats: A nasal whine will stay with you longer than (an admittedly lovely) piano solo like "Twelve Hours". There's also a favourably miked percussive set that ripples under many of the cues and adds to the geographical dis-association. This is how all TV music should be in conception and result. --Paul Tonks

Advantages: Enjoyable gameplay Disadvantages: The screen is too dark, and difficult levels become repetitive

Homage over the game takes a similar but slightly different route, the purpose of the game is to beat up and annihilate other gangs, graffiti areas of the city, steal car radios, loot buildings and mug people. Yes a slightly violent sounding game, but pretty good fun all the same. Initially its very much along the lines of many other similar games the Grand Theft Auto series being a prime example, minus the cars. Once you have got passed this same old, same old style you get to progress to more interesting challenges. As well as each major challenge which you need to complete before moving on to the next level there are a variety of mini challenges, i.e. getting train fare for Rudy to get out of town; or stopping another gang from invading your patch, your patch for the record is Coney Island.
The main missions are quite long and involved, you will have to enter another gangs area and effectively take over, as well as attacking a rival gang you also have to avoid the police who will pin you to the floor and handcuff you, while other members of your gang my release you, if you stay handcuffed for more than a minute your basically dead.
Fighting is pretty good, once you have mastered the controls there are a variety of moves you can pull to overthrow your opponent. There is a certain amount of satisfaction in grabbing hold of an opponent and throwing them into trashcans, through a shop window or my favourite of the edge of a building.
Not surprisingly I guess with each new level the challenges and opponents get harder and harder and this is where the level of monotony sinks in. Each time you are killed you have to backtrack to the start of that particular scene, which can often involve you carrying out a tedious task. Worse still each time you die your greeted with an annoying woman DJ who says things like “Oh Dear, the Warriors tried to pull off a stint off Broadway.....” and this really grates on your nerves after hearing it three or four times. Then the annoying reload situation only adds to the tension you feel as a player. Often your death is due to failure to complete a specific task in a set time period, the one that annoyed me the most was an Art Stint around chapter 4, this time limit is always literally seconds from achieving, in the task that played on my mind for some time each instance I needed literally no more than 3 seconds to complete the task, I confess I got so annoyed in the end that I had to look up a cheat to get me past this level.
Another really annoying aspect of The Warriors is that its difficult to play during daytime hours, I found that I could only play it at night because it was the only way the screen ever became light enough for me to see it. Add to this the fact that as you go from challenge to challenge the playing angle changes, meaning by the time you have got used to the viewing angle 9 times out of 10 you have died because you attention has been taken away from other aspects of important game play. Sticking with the dark, a third annoying aspect is the fact that your character keeps changing so you never know which one is you when you start a new level, although there is an indicator beneath your feet, this same indicator comes up when you’re battling an opponent. You also find that during a battle you lose the ability to see which one is you, and quite often are fighting for your life when in reality you are sat safely to the side of the screen.
All the grumbles out of the way, and The Warriors is an enjoyable game, however it still sits around the £25-£30 mark in shops, which is a shame because I don’t see the point of paying £30 to be wound up, do you? If and when Warriors becomes widely available for £10-£15 I’d recommend it to everyone as this game will fill hours of your time, but at its current price I cant.
One nice little addition to Warriors is that when you visit Warriors HQ you can play on an arcade game called Armies Of The night which offers a very similar game play (with improved graphics and manoeuvres) to a classic game called Rolling Thunder; this little addition really gives you two games in one, which is an enjoyable addition, this also helps to relieve some build up aggression when you have been annoyed playing the conventional game.
The level of foul language in this game is such, that I would not recommend this game for anyone under 18. The game also makes hints towards potential rape incidents.
Advantages: Great for a way to relax or pass the time Disadvantages: Can get repetitive, some stutters with graphics
If you're not familiar with 'hack and slash' games then you're in for a treat. You're a godlike warrior from the Three Kingdoms Epic. You lead your soldiers into battle and hack and slash your way through your enemies until you meet their bosses.
Let's start with The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. This is popular Chinese novel written about 600 years ago. It tells of the epic of the Han Dynasty in the 2nd and 3rd Century. It is based on real events but details about how closely is unknown. These three kingdoms were the Wei(led by Cao Cao), the Shu(led by Sun Jian), and the Wu(led by Lu Bei). Essentially, you try to unify China in the many games made under the title 'The Romance of the Three Kingdoms.' It's had a lot of loyal following from people who've discovered the novel or the first game in the age of the Nintendo Entertainment ...
Advantages: Great Novelty of playing a dynasty Game on the move! Disadvantages: Broken down battles.
This game was the first game i bought when i bopught my psp, i was expecting alot from it and to a certain extent i got what i wanted. It has all of the original warriors from the previous games and the graphics were just as good as the ps2 versions. But, then to my dissapointment, as soon as you have done a small area of the battle, you are taken to a menu screen in which you must choose the next area. In otherwords, yes this game does have the same battlefields as dynasty warriors 4, but you have to fight them bit by bit. This annoys me as you cant kill more than 100 people or so before you have to go to another area. this looses that element of freedom across the battlefeild and to be honest, makes the game a bit more boring. I suppose the reason for this is because the psp obviously cannot take such a big game and so it needs to be ...
Advantages: great fun game and a super price Disadvantages: I want more!
About 4 or so years ago now I was round a friend's house and we were playing loads of PS2 games and having loads of fun. He then suggested we play this game called Dynasty Warriors - one that I had never heard of or seen, so I just agreed and had absolutely no idea what I was about to be playing. As soon as we started and got into battle I found this game absolutely amazing and was astounded at the sheer size of the battles as you have to fight through literally thousands of enemies and eventually defeat some big boss guy!
Since playing this version - one of the very first ones I was hooked on this game and have bought most of the sequels for the PS2 and then also decided to get it for the PSP - I was so excited!
What is the general idea of the game?:
It tells the story (which are loosely based on true events) of the Han Dynasty ...
