Most miserable yet...
Review of The Wide Window - Lemony Snicket by MelW

Advantages: The longest yet!
Disadvantages: Maybe a little *too* depressing!

Book the Third begins with the Baudelaire orphans being handed into the care of their widowed Aunt Josephine, who lives on the edge of a cliff and is scared of realators and telephones. And thus the misery begins again... This installment is the longest of the three, and quite possibly, the most miserable by far. Lemony Snicket's wit is as sharp as Sunny's teeth, meaning that once you start, you wont be able to put the book down until you reach ...
...Sunny. And being placed in the care of a distant aunt who serves cold cucumber soup for dinner because she's scared of the cooker doesn't improve matters. This time Count Olaf turns up disguised as Captain Sham, rentor of sail boats. And yet again, no one but the Baudelaire orphans can see him for who he really is. So when an Aunt Josaphine shaped hole appears in the library window and a suicide note is found instructing that the orphans should ... Read review

Baudelaire Bad Luck
Review of The Wide Window - Lemony Snicket by Drummer5390

Advantages: Nice storyline, Nice book cover and a great series.
Disadvantages: May need to have read the books from the start.

*****Authors Review***** In The Bad Beginning, things, well, begin badly for the three Baudelaire orphans. And sadly, events only worsen in The Reptile Room. In the third in Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events, there is still no hope on the horizon for these poor children. Their adventures are exciting and memorable, but, as the author points out, "exciting and memorable like being chased by a werewolf through a field of thorny bushes ...
...story begins when the orphans are being escorted by the well-meaning Mr. Poe to yet another distant relative who has agreed to take them in since their parents were killed in a horrible fire. Aunt Josephine, their new guardian, is their second cousin's sister-in-law, and she is afraid of everything. Her house (perched precariously on a cliff above Lake Lachrymose) is freezing because she is afraid of the radiator exploding, she eats cold cucumber ... Read review
