Book the Third begins with the Baudelaire orphans being handed into the care of their widowed Aunt Josephine, who lives on the edge of a cliff and is scared of realators and telephones. And thus the misery begins again...
This installment is the longest of the three, and quite possibly, the most miserable by far. Lemony Snicket's wit is as sharp as Sunny's teeth, meaning that once you start, you wont be able to put the book down until you reach the not-very-happy ending.
Ever since Uncle Monty died, things have been as miserable as ever for Violet, Klaus, and Sunny. And being placed in the care of a distant aunt who serves cold cucumber soup for dinner because she's scared of the cooker doesn't improve matters.
This time Count Olaf turns up disguised as Captain Sham, rentor of sail boats. And yet again, no one but the Baudelaire orphans can see him for who he really is. So when an Aunt Josaphine shaped hole appears in the library window and a suicide note is found instructing that the orphans should be adopted by Captain Sham, things don't look hopeful for the Baudelaire three.
If your ideal book includes a hurricane, cold cucumber soups and man eating leeces, then this book is most certainly for you!
