The crime / thriller genre is my favourite to read, so I am always interested to hear about good authors in this field. Many people have recommended James Patterson to me, who I had heard of but never read, so I bought one of his novels from Ebay - Roses Are Red, which was published in 2000.
I will admit here to a slight prejudice towards female authors. This has always been the case from Judy Blume and Enid Blyton through Jane Austen, Martina Cole and Kathy Reichs. I do like some male authors - Ben Elton and Terry Pratchett come to mind - but I definitely prefer women writers. Maybe this has tainted my views on Patterson somewhat. But I will try to offer an unbiased and completely honest opinion on this book.
