You either love him or you hate him. Personally I think the guy is brilliant and this book shows just how good he can be.
I have been a fan of Clarkson on the TV in his Top Gear role for a long time and I own most of his videos. I was unsure whether his humour would work written in a book becuase his accent on words and his comical deadpan face help. However I was wrong to be worried.
In this book Clarkson covers various subjects with his musings, wild descriptions and strong opinions. He ridicules poloticians, animals, manufacturers....pretty much anyone and everyone! But, as is his way, it is all done very toungue in cheek.
The book is set into short stories which are about 2-3 pages long and take about 5-10 minutes to read so it is easy to pick up and put down without fear of losing the plot of the book.
However, I was hooked on this book and couldn't put it down it had me crying with laughter.
This book does contain a few references to cars but many more references to non-car related topics. You do not have to be a fan of cars to enjoy this book. It is just nice to hear somebody else ranting (in a way only Clarkson could!) about the little things that niggle in everyday life.
Look out for the story of the fox, the chicken and the wicker chair, incredibly entertaining.
I wish this book had been so much longer, although it was the same size as most paperback novels it was over too quick for me. I could have read more and more of his brilliant stories.
I think this book would suit anyone with a sartirical sense of humour. It is witty and a little pretentious, the things that make Clarkson so unique and either loved or hated.
I highly reccommend this book and I am sure that if you find Clarkson mildly amusing or even have no idea who he is that this book will make you chuckle out loud.
I bought my copy from play.com for £4.99 but I have heard it can be bought cheaper from Tesco.
