"The World According To Clarkson" is a hilarious compilation of articles taken from Jeremy Clarkson's weekly column in the Sunday Times from the beginning of 2001 through to the end of 2003.
...Oh, and don't think just because it's Clarkson that's it filled with merry quips on cars, cars and more cars...it's not, so don't be deterred, and even those that love his work with BBC's Top Gear, you'll want to read on too...
As the blurb on the back of the books states, "Clarkson has seen rather more of the world than most..." but with that in mind, the first of his 81 articles focuses on him being stuck at home, bored out of his mind due to a bank holiday!!
His use of linguistic techinques in writing - you know, metaphors and similes etc, are indentical to his presenting style on Top Gear, which is a pleasant thing to note when reading through.
Topics include and vary as much from one minute writing about sitting next to lesbians and teething babies on a flight to New Zealand, to presenting Have I Got News For You? All the way through to sitting in his garden through the night with an air rifle, trying to out wit a sly, anonymous fox......Yes, this kind of coverage could only come from a mind like Clarkson's!!
Just in brief, and to give you guys a clear idea of what to expect, other stories involve cricket, Staffordshire, the Met Office, office parties, adaptors for plugs, PR people, Concorde, the circus and private schooling
I personally, wanted to read this from cover to cover straight away, as will many people who like Clarkson's dry-witted style, although I can appreciate one sitting may be too much, considering each chapter is a totally new and different story - so there's plenty to keep your brain ticking over!
Published by Penguin Books, and with over 500,000 copies sold, you'll be able to snap up a copy on Amazon for just £3.99 - for a price like that, this hilarious and unique view on the world is a must have!!

I used to adore Clarkson until he got up himself on TG. However his editorials from time to time in Sunday weekend papers are worth reading, so this could perhaps be another one to consider.
