Apparently, there are different musical accompaniments and the cymbals can be used to do the gallop and the run, but although full instructions on how to do this are given in the booklet, this is something I have yet to master

I was given this as a gift and wondered what it is about my personality which made someone buy a belly dancing kit. Are they trying to tell me something?
No matter, once we all got into it, it has proved to be great fun in a tiny little pack!
**What do I get?**
The kit comes in a really nifty little box with a lift up lid
Open it up and inside is a small 32 page book, a set of finger cymbals and adhesive jewels.
Obviously, nothing is to be left to chance…
**The Cymbals**
There are 4 small cymbals (zils), two for each hand. You have to fit your thumb and middle finger into the elastic so that they are sitting on top of each other, and then away you go.
Apparently, there are different musical accompaniments and the cymbals can be used to do the gallop and the run, but although full instructions on how to do this are given in the booklet, this is something I have yet to master
**The Jewels**
A little round red an white navel adornment which is still in its packet ready for the right moment to be worn
**The Booklet**
Inside this small booklet are 32 pages detailing everything you could possibly need to know about belly dancing.
I is divided into several chapters, the first being the introduction, encouraging you to get on down and start those hip shimmies.
The next chapter explains the warm up and as I would expect, gives some ideas for loosening up before learning the main moves.
After this, we come to a section called main moves, and detailing, not surprisingly, some of the moves you need to be a belly dancer. It goes through head moves, rib and stomach moves. All of the descriptions are accompanied by pictures, which is good news because just reading the instructions and trying to perform the moves is a tad exhausting.
There is a chapter on how to use the cymbals and right at the end some ideas on looking the part and suggested music to try out your belly dancing moves.
**Price and availability**
This little kit cost £3.99, and can be bought from most major book stores, so for a fun little gift for someone, it's really good value.
**What I thought**
For the price, it's a really fun little kit, whether you know someone likes belly dancing (or the idea of it) or if you just want to buy yourself something to cheer yourself up. We have had some laughs trying out the moves and they have proved to be surprisingly difficult.
The items in the pack are well made and durable, and as I said before, they have included everything you might need to have a go. The booklet does tell you the kind of clothes and accessories you might need to add to your dancing, and look the part further. I haven't been out to buy the scarves to drape around my face or the henna tattoos but there's time yet.
One thin I did like about the booklet is that as well as giving ideas for clothes, it suggests music which could be bought to dance to, Hossam ramzy being a favourite, so this is a cd I might just have to try out.
All in all, this little pack of tricks is worth buying- well priced and with all the resources you could need. You never know…you might, like me, find out that you really did want to have a go, even if it had never crossed your mind before.
Advantages: Cute! Nicely packaged - would make a great wee gift!! Disadvantages: The zills (finger cymbals) included are really not up to much!!
...smaller book demonstrating some of the more basic bellydancing moves, an adhesive navel decoration, and 2 pairs of zills (finger cymbals).
This would be a nice gift for anyone interested in trying belly-dance, or with a small amount of experience. It's not really suitable for more advanced dancers as it's a bit basic. It's doubtful that anyone could learn the dance from a few fairly basic drawings in a book, but it would be a good aid for those ... ...on-line resource links.
The zils are really pretty awful and are not up to professional dance standards (they sound awful!) but are ideal for practising at home.
This is a nice wee thing to have, and would no doubt be appreciated by anyone just starting their belly-dancing journey!! ...
