Advantages: inexpensive, can use any IDE hard drives Disadvantages: slow
...The Promise ConnectStor II, is a nice little RAID 0/1 Network Attached Storage device. The hardware RAID is what attracted me to this NAS in the first place, and the flexibility of using my own IDE hard drives has sold me.
Opening the box and installing my 2x250GB WD hard drives was fairly easy. There's enough space in the box and the power and IDE cables are long enough to get everything hooked up. The only thing that was challenging, was the fact that the hard drives mount to a plate which in turn bolts to the case. So once the hard drives were installed, I had to hold the plate with both drives on it, hook up the cables and then position and attach the plate.
Plugged everything in and powered up. The first problem encountered was the IP conflict. The Promise ConnectStor II uses 192.168.1.1 address as the default setting...

Advantages: Excellent Features Disadvantages: Fatally Flawed Software
...This unit is incredibly enticing. Most units, although 1TB, only allow 0,1 RAID. This means that in RAID 1 (mirror mode) you can only get 500 Gigs.
This Iomega unit allows you get 750 Gigs in RAID 5 since it has 4 drives. More cost effective storage space!
It also features:
* Linux based OS
* Flexible user and group based security,
* Above average performance with respect to RAID, responsiveness, and transfer speeds.
* Gigabit ethernet as well as 802.11G wireless
* 2 USB ports to attach additional storage
* 4 drive bays to upgrade and replace drives
* RAID 5 !. This is a prominent feature that sets it in a unique category among entry level NAS.
* A very well built enclosure. All metal, fairly thick at that, as well as very sturdy enclosure for the HD's that uses screws. Nothing plastic of flimsy here.
All very very good features...

Advantages: Excellent at destroying you files Disadvantages: to numerous to enter, unit lasts abot 2 months and your files are GONE!
...DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT.. I own this unit and this is my true story...
This unit lasted 2 months and uses a a proprietary file system that only Iomega can recover.
Not a true Raid 5, but software (controller resident) raid. Controller goes bad, files WILL BE INSTANTLY SCRAMBELLED! .
No log files to see what the unit is doing, diagnosing any problem is is impossible. No port to hook up a terminal and issue diagnostic commands, No way to tell what this device is doing, therefore you can't figure out what is wrong!
I am now in serious trouble with clients.
Sent unit to Data Recovery Corp, They are a con!!. DO NOT USE THEM
This is a power off, power on, and pray type device.. you better do a lot of praying, or kiss your files goodbye, they are destined for the pit of hell.. this device is a black hole, files go in and they don't come back...

I have been a Muse fan since 2003 and the release of "Absolution". I have since seen them live 7 times, including the 16th June 2007 at Wembley Stadium.
So, as you would gather, I was looking forward to this DVD for a long long time. It was originally more
