Thermaltake Silent DualFan 420w PSU

Advantages: Powerful, cheap, quiet
Disadvantages: none

Modern PC's are requiring more and more power. Cheap power supplys simply arent cutting it anymore, and can often cause problems. I recently purchased a Hercules Radeon 9700Pro graphics card (which I have also reviewed on Ciao), and thus I decided to equip my PC with a more capable PSU. >Value< Thermaltake do several lower models, but I felt that the 420w would be a safe bet to cope with my 2 Optical drives, new graphics card, and other hardware. Online reviews of this power supply were very good, so I was pleased to find the unit lived up to my expectations. I was even more pleased to find that the unit retails for about £40 on dabs.com - much cheaper than equivalent models from Antec or Enermax. >First Impressions< First impressions were good - the unit sports a dual fan configuaration with smart, strong gold ...

Hiper Type R HPU-4R580 Power Supply Unit

Advantages: Modular power connectors, good design, solid build, designed in the UK.
Disadvantages: Large

supply is worth the £60 price tag, it is of a high quality, it is stable and after testing using some multimeter's and an oscilloscope does produce the power claimed on the box. This is a high grade device that should serve its owners well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 2 - Extra value techno babble. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation of the device is tricky as with many power supplies simply because of the possition in the case they usually have and because it needs to connect to everything. This device is deeper than your average power supply, while it does remain within the standards specifications it may be worth checking the depth of your case to make sure it will fit and be aware that the power cables coming from its back plate ...

Review of Hiper Type-R HPU-4R580 - power supply - 580 Watt

Power to the people

Advantages: Very cheap, 2 fans
Disadvantages: None

some instances the PSU may simply just pack up working altogether due to being over stressed. The Q-tec 550 watt is a very powerful yet extremely cheap PSU which is also supplied with 2 fans as standard (1 fan draws warm air from your processor whilst the other fan expels that warm air out the back of your PC which helps to keep things cool inside your case) the 2 fans provide an output of 33 decibels. The supplied cables are all of ample lengh and i had no problems whatsoever reaching them to my midi tower cased motherboard, the PSU is a gold colour and the 2 fans are coloured in rose gold and it looks quite beautiful for what it is. As i said at the beginning of this review the PSU is perhaps the singlemost important component you will ever buy for your PC so just how good is the Q-tec 550 watt? Well, in 14 months of constant ...
