Yet again, the opinionater known as hippylovechild writes a perfume review, and no, it will not be the last one, that much I can promise you! Today I will be telling you about my new perfume Thierry Mugler’s ‘Angel Innocent’, which I purchased this week as a treat for myself, cause I have been such a good girl lately, and my speeding ticket ended up only costing a third of what I expected (my first speeding ticket ever! And hopefully the last, what a waste of money), so all the more reason to splash out on some pricey perfume!
How I got sucked in:
Angel and I (the original perfume from Thierry Mugler) have been having a love/hate relationship since it came on the market. I have never myself purchased it, although I lurrrve this fragrance on other people, but find it too heavy in scent and price for myself (yes, I do have boundries to my fragrance purchases!). Now, imagine my delight whilst visiting my local perfumerie to discover that Monsieur Mugler has decided to create a perfume for the less bold-hearted of us angels who desire a fragrance which has a whisper of the original, yet with its own personality! This new creation was of course Angel Innocent and I fell in love immediately.
The story behind the ‘fume (info found on osmoz.com):
“Springing from Angel's kindly universe, Angel Innocent evokes the temptations of childhood, and happiness. It portrays a mischievous and impish angel, vivacious and impertinent with its sparkling fragrance, full of joie de vivre.”
It is also said that Thierry Mugler set out to create a version of Angel for the warmer weather months and for younger women just beginning to experiment with fragrances. Angel Innocent was created in 1998.
The perfume comes in a pale blue box with the name on the front. Inside the box there is a little message card inviting you to join the Angel Innocent circle, in order to get some free goodies etc. I have yet to send in the card, so I can’t testify to the benefits of ‘joining the circle’ yet. There are three different perfume bottles available (prices mentioned below), each a bit different in design. The smallest bottle (25ml) is made of clear heavy glass, with a star indented on the bottom and five frosted indents from the top of the bottle to almost the bottom, to give you the impression of it being a comet. The top of the bottle is fitted with a silver sprayer which is inlaid at the top with a pale blue glass star, and on the back of the sprayer there is a tiny engraved comet. There is no cap, unfortunately however the bottle is very beautifully detailed. The 75ml glass bottle has a pull-of silver cap with the star inlay, and the 75ml spray bottle is made of aluminium in pale blue, and a matte silvery top with the glass star inlay. The perfume is of a pale blue colour.
The fragrance:
The description of the fragrance reads as follows: “This mouth-watering, fruity fragrance reveals a sparkling shroud, in which the acidulous tones of candies and fruit (red berries and black currant) blend harmoniously. Then follows a mouth-watering accord of crunchy meringue, sweet praline and tender sugared almond. “
The top notes are: Bergamot, tangerine and honey. The middle notes are: Red berries and black currant. The base notes are: White musk, praline, meringue and white amber.
My experience with Angel Innocent:
I had tried this fragrance several times at the perfumerie before deciding to splurge for two main reasons: 1. the fragrance is very expensive and I wanted to be sure I really liked it and 2. I wanted to be sure it had lasting power and didn’t cause any skin reactions. Needless to say, I was convinced. The fragrance is an EDP and lasts all day, accompanying me subtly. It starts off very sweet, and I can really smell the honey and tangerine in the beginning. After about 10-20 minutes the middle notes come through, with a very mellow, softly sweet scent. After a few hours, one can smell the delicate musk and amber notes mixed with a sweet chocolaty smell. Sounds delicious you say? Well, I can assure you it is. I have just started using this fragrance this week, and have been told by several people that I smell wonderful. A coworker asked which fragrance I was wearing, as she had never smelled a perfume which smelled so nice before! I am very happy with this purchase and have found a new favourite perfume!
Availability, price and suitability:
This perfume seems to be only available in the higher-end perfumeries. I bought the smallest bottle which is a 25ml size EDP and it cost me about £25. It is also available in a 75ml size, either in a glass bottle or a spray bottle for about £40. Unlike the original Angel, there are (as of yet) no refillable bottles available. There are also several products with the scent of Angel Innocent available such as shower gel and foam, body lotion and cream, bath sparklers and body dust. It is the most expensive perfume I have ever purchased, but I think that adds to the feeling of luxury. It is also very beautifully presented and one has the feeling that this product was made with love.
Although it is quite a sweet fragrance, it is very light, yet has excellent lasting power. I think this fragrance would be suitable for year-round use and for all occasions. After the novelty has worn off (because it is so new) I think I will reserve this for special occasions, as it is very expensive.
So, the next time the perfume counter tempts you, have a whiff….Angel Innocent is like the butterfly kisses of an angel’s wings.
Advantages: Smells like good memories Disadvantages: Very, very expensive
Happy New Year to you all. I got loads of nice presents, and my first opinion of the year is on my favourite subject - perfume. Theirry Mugler's Angel Innoncent, to be precise.
Finally, my dad has got his Christmas gift shopping down to a fine art, and this year, he asked my brother's girlfriend what I might like.
Anna, being the wise girl she is, steered him to the perfume counter, and told him that anything by Charlie,or costing less than £20 ... ...sales assistant, who showed him several perfumes, and recommended gift sets, where you get a couple of extra bits for not much more money.
As men do, my dad chose Angel Innocent for me, because he liked the colour of the box. Regardless of the reasoning, on Christmas morning I was delighted.
So, onto the nitty gritty. The gift set I got comes in a light blue box, with silver etchings on it. The box is about 20cm by 40cm and 8cm deep, an excellent ...

Advantages: Unusal desgin Disadvantages: Can't buy bath and body products
My cousin brought round some perfumes for me to try and among them was Angel Innocent.
Angel Innocent is lighter than the original Angel fragrance, it comes in a body spray style can, but it is an Eau de parfum, which makes it an unusal design and very easy to use.
The fragrance is very light and talc like, it’s also sweet like vanilla but not sickly like Babydoll Paris by Yves saint Laurent. It’s quiet a young scent but could also ... ...very feminine but sexy not girly.
It’s more of a evening scent, but you could get away with wearing it anytime of day.
The packaging is a box in silver and pale blue with a white star burst on the front. The canister is also silver rimmed with a silver nozzle. The middle is pale blue again with a white star burst with the words Angel innocent in black letters. The cap (also silver) is smooth with a raised clear blue star, which is very pretty ...

...I received Angel Innocent by Thierry Mugler as a surprise gift for Christmas 2002, I guess you could say it was almost a blind date - only almost though as we had met before. In fact I’d spent quite a long time on previous shopping trips admiring it’s physique, because this scent is nothing if not aesthetically pleasing. The heavy glass bottle is approximately eight inches tall and circular in shape. Sections of the bottle have been cut ... ...symbol of immense inspiration for Thierry Mugler. The original perfume in this range, simply called "Angel" comes in a bottle shaped like a star and this scent also bears the trademark as the silver lid, which is asymmetrical at the top, has the same three dimensional glass star embedded into it. If you look at the bottom of the bottle you will also find that the same star shape has been cut away from there. On his website www.thierrymugler.com the ...

...bag. The trademark 'star' of Thierry Mugler is on the top of the pump and the whole design makes it look really classy with its silver top rather than a plasticy design too often found on cheaper makes.
I suppose it is quite expensive but I think you get what you pay for. However, i did go to the canary islands quite recently where I pick up lots of my perfumes and had some difficulty finding it. The original Angel was easy but not Innocent so if ... ...count on finding it easily, it is there, but you do have to look!
I would definetly recommend his scent, I just love it, however, I think its quite hard to write a perfume review saying how great I think a perfume is as many perfumes smell and suit people differently. However, i love it so why not give it a try?! ...
