The notebook comes with a Pentium III Mobile Processor which runs at 500MHz and also it is equipped with no less than 192Mb of RAM and a 12GB Hard Disk Drive(HDD). This is more than enough for the laptop to run smoothly, it is designed for Windows 98 and 2000 Professional but I am running Windows XP Professional SP1 with no problems.
From using the notebook myself I have come to see that having such a small notebook has its advantages. You can set it up anywhere and also if you have a full battery it will last you a good few hours. And if you want to connect to the net you can use the PCMCIA port to add a wireless LAN card or a standard network card. It also comes with a built in 56kps modem. What I have noticed about this notebook is that it does not heat up like other laptops that you could fry an egg on.
If you are looking for an affordable and small notebook this is the one for you.

Manufacturer's product description
The ThinkPad 240X mini-notebooks were designed to be an easy-to-carry, easy-to-use, easy-to-connect superslim notebook for professionals who value portability. Weighing about 1.5kg and featuring the durable IBM ThinkPad UltraCarbon casing, a keyboard that is 95% the size of current standard ThinkPad notebook keyboards, a large palm rest and integrated TrackPoint pointing device, the ThinkPad 240X packs all the features you need to work comfortably virtually anywhere, anytime. It also includes a crisp 10.4" active matrix TFT display. And because most of the commonly used ports are onboard, there's no need to carry the extra port expander bar that most other mini-notebooks require.
