Choose the essential features your organization needs in an affordable ThinkPad R50e notebook. It features Intel processor, large display, extra hard disk drive protection and easy-to-use system recovery software. Like a bumper, the Hard Disk Drive Shock Absorber helps protect the hard disk drive against damage from some drops and falls. When compared to a notebook cover alone, this technology increases hard disk drive protection by 30%. To help decrease expenses, look inside for ThinkVantage Technologies and ThinkVantage Design elements. You'll see how to work more confidently and efficiently - and gain more time to focus on strategic goals.

...What a top class notebook for the price. Comes ready to use, straight out of the box, mine came with plenty of software to get me started on. The pentium processor and half a gig of ram, complete many tasks with ease. A nice matte 15" tft monitor, seems to resist scratches because of its non-shiny surface. It's trackpoint mouse takes a bit of time to get used too, but once you have cracked it, it is much better than the touchpads on most laptops. You have the ability to keep the whole of your hand still, and just use the tip of your finger to control the ball, and your thumb to click on the right and left mouse buttons, stopping your wrist from aching from sliding your hand across a pad. Fast dvd drive, able to watch films flawlessly. Decent soundcard considering it is in a laptop. Easily upgradeable RAM modules, and hard drive...

Advantages: Its a ThinkPad! , Great Build Quality, Battery life and value Disadvantages: none as yet
...I bought the thinkpad R50e new from ebay, when I was looking for a replacement laptop.
Spec - Intel CeleronM1.4Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HDD, DVD-RW/CDRW, WIFI etc.
The first thing I noticed was the build quality, the R50e is a very sturdy machine, compared to laptops I had been looking at the week before in a well known high street computer store.
It feels great to use, the hinges are metal giving the impression of durability. Keyboard is very satisfying to use. The 15inch screen is clear and bright, with no problems what so ever.
The CeleronM processor was clocked at 1.4Ghz, it outperformed my old P4 2.4Ghz laptop in processor benchmarking tests (using SiSoft Sandra), it also is built to be easy on the battery power.
The battery seems to last around 3- 3.5 hours for normal use (web, programming, typing etc), but will run down much...

I for one, absolutely love the look of this acer. The bottom of the laptop just looks really cool, and the top looks ok too. One only criticism on the look, would be that the plastic at the tip of the screen is a little thick, but then again it does have more
I bought mine on ebay for £360, I needed it for university study and it's working really well for small documents like word and excel and it will also play some games well, mainly Unreal Tournament online :-)
The disk space of 60GB is plenty for me.... more
