Full review
There are many notebooks avaliable today, from your £300 own brand notebooks to the £1000 top of the range notebooks.

IBM provides notebooks for all price ranges.

The T series is the ultimate in Travel Notebooks, they combine performance and reliability with travel. These are there Top Models.

All T series' have an outstanding battery life, my T23 started with 4 REAL hours of usability.

Most manufacturers claim 3-4 hours but when IBM says 4 Hours, they actually mean it, bearing in mind that my battery is 2 years old.

The Notebook comes with some really good IBM plus points, like the nipple, and the keyboard light.

Yes this notebook has a nipple, this may sound strange, but it is the best alternative to the mouse, it is more accurate and much easier to use than a glide pad. Its amazing how that small little red dot can actually inhance your computer experiance.

The keyboard light which is hidden above the screen, shines down onto the keyboard to let you see the actual keys.

The titanium lid, prevents scratches and dents, you can physically drop the laptop, and it would still work, how many times have you dropped your laptop? Trust me it happens, how many mobile phones have little dents due to dropping?

The unique keyboard allows you to have little coffee accidents. If you drop your coffee you just need to put the computer into hibernation, which turns the computer off without loosing the work your currently working on, then dry the computer, then begin using it again. Your data is safe!

The Ultrabay 2000, is a cdrom drive, which you can swap for a floppy disc drive / dvd / battery / 2nd hard disk even when the computer is on.

A very unique feature of all IBM laptops is the security features, you can set your IBM to only turn on after a password, but unlike all computers, the password cannot be removed except by IBM. The thinkpads Hard disc only allows that particular computer to communicate with the hard disc, once the security feature has been set. So your data is protected, again if things go wrong, IBM can regain control of your hard disc.

Later models have harddiscs with "airbag" technology, again unique to IBM, the hard disc is a moving part, and therefore likely to go wrong during sudden movement, like dropping, the "Airbag" technology parks the disc in a save place.

The inbuilt modem and network card allows you to connect to networks with out the need for extra PCMIA cards.

IBM has an updater sevice that allows the computer to automatically download and install product updates, just like windows update, but for the IBM utilities and drivers.

The Access IBM key allows you to easily and quickly access IBM, from anywhere in the world. If you are in holiday in portugal and need help with your notebook, just press the Access IBM button, it comes up with self help / internet links / and provides you with international help line numbers. The Access IBM button also allows you to maintain your computer, like update software, buy additional accessories, to defrag your computer. Your protected throughout the world. Do you know of any other computer manufacturer that supports this?

The in built speakers in the T Series are well posistioned to allow you to hear sound, this sounds silly but most notebooks have the speakers pointing everywhere except towards the persons ears.

Fan noise is extremely low, and infrequent. Allowing you to concentrate easily.

The Access IBM button also allows you to back up your system, either on the service partition, on a cd or on another place on your network.

If your computer software goes wrong, or you want totally clean your system, you turn on your computer, press the Access button, and you have the choice to reset the computer with all the factory settings and software, or restore single files. What this means is you can reinstall Windows without the need for CDs and be back up and running within the hour, with a clean system.

Speed, My model has a 1.13 Ghz Pentium III CPU which allows you to do all your office tasks.

"Own brand" laptops, even toshiba, and HP, although among the best laptops dont have these functions, even though my laptop is celebrating its 4th birthday!

This is not the most up-to-date model, but for all you ebayers out there who need a computer to travel with and to complete office functions, then this computer is suited to you, due to its cheap price and its good battery life.

Choose IBM, for security, reliabilty and the ability to really travel.

The IBM T42 is the current models avaliable in shops, and provide nearly 7hours of computing power, and even better backup and data protection functions.

Expect to pay 200-300 pounds on ebay for this.

other additions are the R series, designed as a portable computer, G series, for ultimate travel, and the T series the ultimate in travel and performance.
