Hitting Rock Bottom...
Advantages: A great read, well written, easy to get into... Disadvantages: Only some minor quibbles...
...This one is called Broken and was published in 2000. It is a sequel to The Ladykiller (see my previous review on this!) and once again centres on the life of policewoman DI Kate Burrows and her boyfriend, Patrick Kelly. I enjoyed revisiting their lives and reading more about their family and friends that had featured in The Ladykiller. Broken is again set in Grantley, but Kate has to face a different case this time - one which involves young children. ... ...It's a great read, ideal for taking on holiday or spending a few hours with on a dull day - and, if you've already read The Ladykiller, you'll enjoy it even more.

Not a recipe book from Delia
Advantages: Strong plot line and good character development Disadvantages: None for me.
Devolution has opened up a new political culture in Scotland, gone are the days when the tabloids could ruin a career with a carefully timed smear campaign about their personal life, now the public take the view that what a politician does behind closed doors is their own personal business and no reflection on their ability to do their job, gone are the days when getting caught with your pants around your ankles and a vibrator up your bum would cost ... ...paedophile internet ring at the heart of politics which involves MP's from all the major parties (obviously not the Tories as in Scotland they are no a major party) and suddenly a new morality takes a grip where the voice of the church is once again dominant and spin doctors who have evidence of sleaze are back in control.
The fact that all of the accused profess their innocence and that there are a few unanswered questions seems to bother no one ...

Bleachers by John Grisham
Advantages: Well written, great characterization of the coach Disadvantages: Difficult to relate too as deals with American Football
Background
So many of my friends and family recommended I try a John Grisham novel, so I finally did. I saw this book in the market and at 50p so I thought I couldn't go wrong.
About the Author
John Grisham was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas in the USA in 1955. His first book called 'A Time To Kill' was written in 1989.Since then he has become recognised as one of the Worlds best selling novelists. So far he has written 18 novels, including 'Bleachers', ... ...The 'Bleachers' is about an 'old high school hero' Neely Crenshaw. Who returns to his old home town of Messina with many other former players to bury and pay their respects to their old coach Eddie Rake.

Brute Force grips you from to finish, one of his best yet!
Advantages: Antoher quality installment in the 'Nick Stone' series Disadvantages: none, even those new to McNab will find this a page turner
In Brute Force, McNab's infamous character 'Nick Stone' is back for another mission. We start out when a cargo ship ship is seized by the authorities off the coast of spain loaded with weapons and munitions. Transported 20 years forward, and someone is intent on finishing off those responsible for the treachery - giving up the ship (or more precisely, its contents). They are being murdered and Nick Stone is next on the aggressors list. Nick must ... ...Turning to a guy from his past, together they find themselves pursued through land and sea, with the final setting, seeing Nick in a hauntingly similiar scenerio from his past. Will Nick Stone make it through this one?? I'm an avid reader of action/thriller novels by McNab and his fellow military/ex-military authors. NcNab always seems to come up with goods, enough action and page turning, seat of ya pants material to read this book in record time. ...
