Special Ops and Politicism
Review of Clear and Present Danger - Tom Clancy by Oliy

Advantages: Great action, description, technical data, storyline, political action
Disadvantages: Some small things a repetitive and annoying, a bit complicated

I have just re-read this book for about the 8th time - why? Well it's a great book! You definitely won't pick everything up on the first go unless you have a great deal of knowledge about both tactical infantry operations and also political happenings, as well as a fair amount of American Law. Here is the blurb from the back cover: "Colombian drug lords, tired of being harassed by US law enforcement agents, have assassinated the American Ambassador ...
...clear: leave us alone. But they have pushed too far. The decision is made to send undercover teams into Colombia. Back in the USA, men armed with the most sophisticated tools their country can devise prepare to take the fight to the enemy. But does anyone know who the real enemy is? Jack Ryan and CIA field officer John CLark must find the answer. They expect danger from without - yet the greatest danger of all may come from within..." The book, ... Read review

Demonata - Lord Loss - Darren shan
Review of Demonata: Lord Loss - Darren Shan by salmonf1

Advantages: the beginning of a fantastic series
Disadvantages: very short,

After reading all of the Darren shan vampire saga i was expecting another thrilling read. This i was granted, however Lord Loss is similar to the first of the vampire series. It starts a magnificent line of stories, (the demonata) which i would recommend to anyone. The series is full of magic and a great plot, the first person way of writing really makes it exciting, the sort of read that you'll want to finish in the first sitting, in the case of ...
...a long book, nor is it hard to read. you can finish in a good few hours. Not a vast amount actually occurs in this book, but enough to keep you hooked and looking forwards to the next installments. It does however introduce characters with huge amounts of depth and history. The great thing about it is that it is completely different to the vampire stories but still has that Darren shan edge that all his fans adore. My overall verdict is that the ... Read review

Skipping Christmas
Review of Skipping Christmas - John Grisham by CPTDANIELS

Advantages: Witty and enjoyable
Disadvantages: Quite short and not expanded enough

...simply told them they were skipping Christmas this year. Meanwhile in their small middle class street preparations for the festive season where in full swing. A highly organised and proud neighbourhood where putting all their lights, frosties and decorations out for the world to see. As the road seeks to win the award for the best festive decorations in the area. Only one house has none and one house has let the neighbourhood down. My thoughts ...
...this author that I have reviewed. And as such I really wasn't sure what to expect this time round. I liked the concept of a couple trying to do something different in missing Christmas and that was why I bought it. Initially I struggled to get into the book and I thought I would rather hear about their daughter's trip to Peru than a 'stuffy couple' attempt to avoid Christmas. But in truth it grew on me and despite my prejudices against the author ... Read review
