Review of Velocity - Dean Koontz by
payno19
Advantages: great read
Disadvantages: ended suddenly
Dean Koontz will catch your entire attention with this astonishing title. This is the first Dean Koontz book that i have read which was given to me by my brother, from the first page i couldn't put the book down. As a reader you almost feel as if you can relate to the characters and with your imagination you are amongst them. It starts rather slow but once the main character recieves the first note it is a pacey read that actually at times makes ...

Odd Thomas, Oddly Good
Review of Odd Thomas - Dean Koontz by
JcMullaney
Advantages: Story, Characters ect.
Disadvantages: Sligtly unrealistic but you don't really care.
Odd Thomas is the first installment of the 'Odd' series, which is followed by Forever Odd and Brother Odd.
I'm a Dean Koontz fan, but by far this or Life Expectancy have to be the best of his books, so I'm not biased.
The book is set in Pico Mundo a small town in the desert, with the main character Odd Thomas actually narrating the book.
The main characters are:
Odd Thomas - The main character sees the dead and the shadows (bodachs)
Stormy Llyewellyn ... ...the only people who knows Odd sees the dead.
Little Ozzie - Odd's friend, has 6 fingers on 1 hand. The one who made Odd write the book and owning a 50 year old cat, who he insist is that old.
The story starts with Odd seeing a dead girl who was murdered in a not very nice way. Odd can see the dead, but only the lingering dead, the ones that are staying around for a purpose. Then black 'shadows' (aka bodachs) start gathering that only Odd and a ...

Love Conquers all- blah blah
Review of The Husband - Dean Koontz by
Taika
Advantages: Great plot twists.
Disadvantages: Weak characters.
...has been kidnapped, but that the people he is dealing with are very serious, proven as they murder a seemingly 'innocent' dogwalker just to empasize the fact that they're really not joking.. Mitch- a character Koontz attempts to have us warm to from the start, he's the lead, why wouldn't we want to warm to him?
Well, my main problem with this is that he's an incredibly two dimensional man. He's the typical stereotype of what is supposed to be passed ... ...better by the fact it's his hobby, he's blissfully happy in his marriage, he's fit, toned, goodlooking. I already don't like him. Yeah, so he's only a gardener, but who cares if he has everything else?
It's almost like you feel he deserves what he gets.
Despite my reservations regarding the main character, I am an avid Koontz fan, I read him for the first time at age 9, whilst snooping through my mother's books. I have since, read almost every ...

... Intensity ....
Review of Intensity - Dean Koontz by
Coyote98
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Not a one...
...movies and extremely pitiful thrillers, Intensity is a psychological thriller that definitely delivers! I still shudder (with both, terror and delight) at the very thought of this book! Intelligent plot and characters, intriguing choice of settings, mysterious, chilling (I sat up till dawn clutching my stuffed bear!) . . . there is nothing bad anyone can say about this book. You MUST get the Audiotape also. I've watched the little made-for TV movie ... ...most horrific descriptions and depictions. Intensity really touches all of the senses. I laughed. I was shocked, horrified, outraged, indignant, annoyed, bewildered, amused (yes, amused!), and by the end… slackjawed and goggle-eyed with glee that my cynical hardened heart can be still be terrified!
Enough! The story evolves around 2 characters, our strong female protagonist (go Koontz! I love your women!) named Chyna Shephard, and the skeezy, narcissistic ...

Dean Koontz - Icebound
Review of Icebound - Dean Koontz by
markyeadon
Advantages: Good thriller that's worth a read
Disadvantages: Not his usual horror story
I got this book from my local library as i spend quite a bit of time travelling on the train now and need something to do, and books are soooooo expensive when you read them in like two days. So whilst browsing the shelfs in the library i'm looking at the Koontz books and most of them i've read, but not this one so i get it on loan. This book was not what i was expecting and is totally different to what i know and respect Dean koontz for. I like ... ...look weak, but are not as good as Richard Laymon (if you haven't read any of his, do so you will not be disappointed!!!), however this book is totally different but not in a bad way. It is more of a thriller book than a horror, but still a damn good read and at times difficult to put down.
The basic story is that a widespread drought is causing murderous famine and there is one possible solution: giant masses of Artic ice, split from the polar pack ...
