Stephen King at the top of his game...still!
Advantages: well written, short 'no excess fat' stories, common theme Disadvantages: not for the squeamish, or those that like happy endings!

Firefight, amazingly written by Chris Ryan.
Advantages: Feel the soldier's emotions, deep storyline, addicting. modern story (not ww1 or ww2) Disadvantages: should have been longer.
