What lengths must be taken to protect The Client?
Advantages: Fantastic author, informative and interesting the whole way through. Disadvantages: None
The Client is about an 11 year old boy called Mark Sway who is from a broken family and has witnessed the death of a US State Senator. He is being pursued by the FBI whom wants him to reveal everything he knows about the killing and in the meantime the killer himself is trying to get to Mark & his mother and cause them harm in order to stop Mark from talking about what he witnessed whilst having a sneaky cigarette in the woods near his house. Mark ... ...Mark from the FBI whilst trying to shield him from the actual killer who wants to ensure that Mark is never able to talk to anybody else about what has happened. The book is very action packed and I found myself feeling real sympathy for Mark as he was just a young boy who was doing something silly and found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and now he is suffering the consequences of witnessing a killing. The reader is shown the events ...

A question to our principles?
Advantages: a good twist and a storyline that makes you think of sacrifices and morals Disadvantages: first few chapters were boring
I bought The Chamber because I'm a fan of John Grisham. I was bored with the first 3 chapters of the novel. The beginning was dragging and the narration was too long before it got to the point of the story. But I stuck to it because I can't believe Grisham would write a boring novel. Finally, after the first 3 chapters of boredom, the story finally kicked off. The story has a certain twist to it that made me laugh at first then disbelief kicked in, ... ...DIFFERENT). I felt indignant with the ending at first but I also can't help but think, was I being prejudiced with my opinion of the ending? The main character had to sacrifice some things to reach where he was. I felt Grisham wrote this novel presenting possibilities that we dare not think of because of moral and social issues. He did it with a little grandeur mostly because of the unexpected twists in his novels that only he can bring. A really ...

Prepare to be moved.
Advantages: A great read, but not a 'typical' Grisham. Disadvantages: Ending was not as strong as it could have been, biut it didn't matter.
Having read a number of John Grisham's books, this one came as a complete surprise, and a very pleasant one at that!
It reminded me of Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath', but was more readable and faster moving.
It is the story of two families coming together during the depression in the United States. One family run a cotton farm at harvest time and the other family are hill people who are vital to the economy, yet are treated with prejudice by ... ...a group of mexicans, who, like the hill people, are brought in to harvest the cotton before the weather breaks.
Grisham's sympathetic writing is superb. One could almost share the fear and sadness felt by some of the main characters. In this respect, the book is a real page-turner.
Grisham deals with all the social issues remarkably well. These issues include racism, prejudice, poverty, disability, violence and the plight of unmarried teenage mothers.

The Testament - John Grisham
Advantages: Fast reading Disadvantages: nothing
...a lot of details on the places and the story itself. It takes us in the offices of one of the richest men in United States, Troy Phelan. It seems that Phelan's family was not a family but a group of weired and crazy people. Troy is an eccentric man, never loved by any, but everyone loved his money. He ends his life in a wheelchair and always closed in his rich apartment.
Phelan wanted to screw everyone and I am sure that such people exist. He did ... ...Nate O'Riley, is assigned with the job to find the truth. Nate starts his adventure in the remote parts of Brazil. I am sure that John really visited such places and used to live the experience of such people. Some parts are too good to be true. This is one of them. The litigator is searching for Troy's unknown daughter in the mission of Brazil, Rachel Lane. After a lot of trouble he finds her. Rachel was not aware of her father, but she knew that ...
