A great read that sucks you in. I couldn't put the book down and although it can be tiresome as its a whole lot of reading, the characters keep you gripped to the point that you can actually imagine being there! (well from a male point of view anyway)! As pointed out before it has become more relevant after 9/11 and could possibly offend some people but this was the first 'proper' book that I ever read and have since read it twice more its just ...

Without Remorse - a Clancy masterpiece

Advantages: Additictive reading

Have to say that I believe that this is one of Tom Clancy\'s finest moments. Whilst working well as a book to provide background information on John Clarke, a character seen throughout the Jack Ryan series of books, this novel also works suprisingly well as a stand alone book. Pop-politics and techno-warfare.

Advantages: Fast paced and thought provoking.
Disadvantages: It's a long, long, long book...

From the outset, let me tell you two things. One, I am a Clancy fan. Two, I read quickly. My belief is that both of these are pre-requisites for reading this book. If you read slowly, you will get lost, forget what is going on, have to skip back twenty pages to find an oblique political reference... So this is where we find out how Jack Ryan joins the CIA, and why he joins the CIA.
