Rule Nr. 1: Never open the package
Review of The Transporter (Special Edition) by thepunisher

Advantages: nonstop action, beautiful co-star, bit of mystery, nice martial arts chereoograhpy
Disadvantages: none

Frank Martin (Jason Statham), aka The Transporter, a former soldier who has seemingly 'retired' turns up with his black BMW 750 at the oddest places, namely a bank robbery, where he is the driver. We get introduced to him in a garage, where we find out he is very precise and follows three special rules, one of which is: Never open the package. Well, after he completes the bank robbery mission he gets called up to pick up and deliver another mystery ...
...his own rules)he does open the package...and promptly gets into a lot of trouble. First his car goes up in flames, then his house and in between the Marseille police wonders what he really is up to. Its a great movie with nice action scenes in the form of martial arts fights, car chases and funny punt lines. And the lucky viewer gets a viewing treat in Shu Qui, a beautiful asian actress who plays Martins damsel in distress. Its a nonstop, fast paced ... Read review

spooks season 1
Review of Spooks - Series 1 - Complete DVD by fordie900

Advantages: popular series
Disadvantages: none - it is perfect =)

Don't get me started on Spooks.. I love it! The first series is a fantastic introduction to the best production on the BBC this millenium! Yes, that is quite a claim, I know. These 6 episodes show the viewer what makes a Spook, some of the decisions they face, the conflicts they have with their personal lives, the quick thinking, the gadgets. Oh, it's great. If you are not hooked on the first episode, just give the second episode a try. You will ...
...not! If you like to watch something that keeps you thinking and guessing throughout, this is for you. The first series introduces us to all of the main characters adequately. You will be left wanting to know more. The focus on Tom's personal conflicts is a good touch, and emphasises the point many times that being a Spook is a top secret job, and comes with many difficulties. You want Tom and Ellie to work, but you know that it probably won't. The ... Read review

the complex idea
Review of The Da Vinci Code DVD by atytyut2434

Advantages: hooks you in
Disadvantages: bit too complex

...that Tom Hanks was never the 1st choice for the lead role in this film. Not even 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th or 6th choice I would have said. And reading the trivia for the film I was gratified to discover my feelings were correct. I totally didn't recognise Audrey Tatou but she was excellent in her role & out performed Hanks in every scene they were both in. Jean Reno was excellent as the Opus Dei police inspector but he was a bit clichéd in certain sections ...
...totally threw a spanner into the smooth running plot of the film. The locations and sets of the film all look wonderfully, some of the characters are a tad annoying, Silas the albino monk especially so. I noticed a couple of huge mistakes. The British Police vehicles, namely the grey BMW's with orange stripes. No Uk police forces use BMW's and all police car markings are yellow, not orange. Also in the sequence where Silas has shot the armed police, ... Read review

I want to play a game…
Review of Saw (Wide Screen) by sottovoce82

Advantages: It's a gory game alright…
Disadvantages: … but it's not played well

Saw [film only] I wonder what made me watch Saw again; probably I wanted to find out what led to its success and consequently to the sequels that followed. It was a low-budget horror film that was filmed in 18 days only, and probably you won't fail to notice this when you watch it. It begins with the dilemma of two men who don't know each other and who woke up to find each of them tied to a wall by a chain round one foot in a big, dirty public bathroom. ...
...What I didn't like about Saw I is that I felt the game wasn't played well, which is harsh to say considering that it is a life-or-death game, yet this is what appeared to me. It is easy enough to comprehend that the game revolves around one's ability to fight to stay alive. The main character John was diagnosed with cancer, and he is sick of the people who do not "appreciate their blessings". So, he gives them the chance to fight for this life that ... Read review

Innocent until proven guilty
Review of Presumed Innocent (Wide Screen) by shanediablo

Advantages: Harrison Ford, Great Supporting Cast, Good Tension
Disadvantages: Drags on a little

Presumed Innocent is a courtroom drama based on the best-selling novel by Scott Turow. The film was released in 1990. Chief Deputy District Attorney Rozat 'Rusty' Sabich (Harrison Ford) is a professional, hard-working prosecutor totally dedicated to his profession. When he encounters Carolyn Polhemus (Greta Scacchi), a deputy D.A. who is very calculating and ambitious yet she is also incredibly beautiful, his life takes a turn for the worse. His ...
...multiplied to a ridiculous level. Presumed Innocent was made a little before the boom began and therefore doesn't warrant being tarred with the brush of that generation. Despite the taut and tense nature of this legal drama, it is really the cast and its performances that drive this film from being just a decent watch, to being what could be classed as a very good film. Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Witness, Air Force One) is excellent in his role ... Read review
