Had our Thule 9503 for just over a week now got it to bring my new bike home on.
The 9503 can carry 3 bikes and 4 if you dont mind strapping one on the end (but Thule say 3 only)
Ours was made up by the shop so it was just a case of whack it on the towbar and tighten it up and we're off.
There may be more expensive units out there that don't need bolting on but at just under £110 I dont mind.
The bikes are just placed in the tyre rests strapped in then a bar is pulled up and strap your bike to it. The only issues we have had is making all the bikes fit nice and snug then forgetting the next time which way they went.
The units can be fitted with Thule locks but we use a good quality bike lock to strap round the underneath of my towbar then another one to strap through all the bikes and the 9503.
The unit has the ability to tilt giving access to the boot. DON'T bother it's not worth the effort and all forms of communication with the Wife will cease for several hours.
The bikes do wobble if you drive fast round country lanes, but they don't fly off hitting cows in the fields.
One last thing get some extra bungee straps they don't really make the bikes any more secure but they give you peace of mind.
'The bikes do wobble if you drive fast round country lanes, but they don't fly off hitting cows in the fields.' - LOL - that sounds like a comment from somebody who has killed a few cattle with other versions... :D
