Tia Jilldo

AdvantagesThat Caribbean atmosphere.

DisadvantagesStinking hangovers!

"...attached to the origins of Tia Maria, all about Jamaica during the Colonial Wars, fleeing noblewomen, black pearl earrings and a secret family recipe. You can read it on their website (http://www.tiamaria.co.uk) if, like me, you like to know the folklore and stories behind the things that you buy. The website will also tell you how this famous liqueur is made and the process sounds equally romantic: coffee beans grown in the foothills of the Jamaican ..." Read review

DARK 'n' DESIRABLE

AdvantagesDelicious, warming, versatile

DisadvantagesPerhaps too sweet for some, and of course if you don’t like coffee...

"...that got to do with Tia Maria? Er, nowt really, apart from Tia Maria being a coffee based liqueur that I mightn't have tried did I not have a liking for coffee in the first place Tia Maria has a long history, even longer than my coffee addiction. It's been around many years, to be more precise, around 300 years. Well not the drink itself, but the recipe from which it's made anyway. During war in 17th century Jamaica, a Spanish noblewoman and ..." Read review

Jamaican Coffee?

Advantagesgreat on its own or as a mixer.

Disadvantagescan be sickly

"What is Tia Maria Tia Maria is a liqueur spirit with the distinct taste of coffee. It is produced by Pernod Ricard and is made in Jamaica using Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee beans. The main ingredients are coffee beans, cane spirit, vanilla and sugar. Pouring the drink. I have my tumbler at the ready with a couple of ice cubes placed inside in order to chill my drink slightly as that how I generally like my spirits. When poured the liquid ..." Read review

SHOULDN'T THAT BE COFFIA MARIA.

AdvantagesIt's alcoholic. It tastes lovely. It's alcoholic.

DisadvantagesPrice.

"...Iím not alone! This is where Tia Maria comes in for me. Now Iíve grown up, (or so itís sometimes rumoured), I want alcohol. But the ten year old in me still wants sweet drinks. This gorgeous drink fits the bill perfectly, (as do many liqueurs). This one is special though, in that I never tire of it. Itís like drinking warm, fiery, sweet black coffee, even when itís ice-cold. There is no Ďbiteí you see. Only a smooth, mellow heat drifting across ..." Read review
