The hugely popular EA sporting franchise has made its way to nintendo's wonder console the wii. Features setting this version of tiger woods 07 ahead of the xbox and playstation versions include the now compulsory wii motion controls. Hear in lies the games strengths and weaknesses. The motion controls add a new dimension to Tiger Woods and as such provide the game with more longevity, something that i found to be lacking from previous itterations of the franchise. After a few weeks even days of older Tiger Woods games it became alomost routine to bag par, a birdie, or even a hole in one. The same cannot be said for the wii version..... this one takes some serious work! Despite this the controls are at time flawed. Small hand movements can result in your 'golfer' swinging when you yourself had no intention of striking the ball. Further to this it does seem at times that your intending shot is not replicated once your movement is complete. That said these flaws do not occur on a very regular basis and as such the game is by no means ruined by them. After a few hours of play, you ll learn to work around these faults. A wide selection of game modes further the games lifespan, including the extremely addictive target practice game, and provide an alternative to the classic game mode.
Visually the game is very well presented. As is standard with wii games, the graphics are not mind blowing but they are adequate enough with course being faithfully recreated and players represented in a fairly life like manner. For visual flare pick up the playstation of x box versions, but to be honest most should not pick up the wii title if it is graphical power you are after.
It is not just the controls and game modes lengthen the life span of Tiger Woods 07.The games real promise lies in the multi-player matches, the fun you get off watching your friends tee off in the comfort of your living room is worth the £35 for the game and it ensures you ll be coming back to pick up and play time and time again. An extensive create a golfer mode, unlockable course and golfers all add to making this a great addition to your wii games collection.
If you can overlook the games small motion detection problems and lack of online play then you will be getting an otherwise perfect version of Tiger Woods. For multiplayer laughs alone this game is most definately worth your investment
