My husband and I bought a Nintendo Wii last year and for a while only had the Wii sports game for it. We loved the golf game as it was so realistic to play so when it came up to my husbands birthday I decided to buy him a new game and had heard good things about Tiger Woods Golf in other formats so decided to buy him one for the Wii.
It was the same price as most of the other Wii games you can buy £35.99 which I think is a bit expensive but if you get the play out of them then it's not too bad.
The first thing I noticed about this game is that it is a lot more realistic that the golf on the Wii sports. The graphics for one are a lot lot better and include almost photo type images of the players. It's not like the other Wii game where you get the little charachters with bobbly heads/feat and arms.
The game, in my opinion, is also a lot harder than the golf on the Wii sports. On the box it says it is for ages 3+ but I would say it is more for older kids.
The beauty of this game compared to other game player format is the realistic golf swing movement with the Wii remote. You actually swing the remote like you would a real golf club so you actually feel that you are really playing and feels very lifelike. It definitely adds to the fun of the game. The game allows you to choose the difficulty of your swing from easy (basic swing, straight shot) to advanced (ultimate risk and reward).
There are a number of different games modes you can choose so you never really get bored playing this game. My favourite is the Tiger challenge where you play against different world class players, have to beat all of them until you get to play the games best player Tiger Woods. As you go along you can earn money and also skill increases. Other games modes include:
Stroke play - The most basic round of golf, every stroke counts and the player with the lowest total at the end of the round wins.
Match play - Go head-to-head with your opponent on every hole in Match play. The player who wins the most holes win.
Bloodsome - In this two-on-two game, the opposing team chooses the tee shot your team has to play from, then you and your teammate alternate shots for the rest of the hole. Solid, playable tee shots are key to success.
Greensome - In this two-two team game, you and your team mate choose your team's best drive then alternate shots from that point on for the rest of the hole.
Skins - Every hole has a monetary value and the player with the lowest score on the hole takes the cash. In the event of a tie, the money carries over to the next hole, sweetening the pot.
The game also includes 18 different championship courses that you can play such as Pebble Beach and St Andrews.
Nintendo sells a great accessory, a mini golf club that you can play with instead of the Wii remote to give you an ever more lifelike swing.
My husband and his friends love it, it is a great game to challenge your friends on and will make you feel like you are a very good golfer!
