I recieved this game for Christmas and have played it most days since then, however the flaws are beginning to shine through.
Positive -----------
Very simple to pick up and play. Tutorial's are lacking however the basic premise is faily easy to grasp and the number of different modes mean you don't have to dive in at the deep end.
Great graphics (remembering this is just a PSP and not a PS3 or Xbox) then the graphics while simple are great, the courses look good, player visuals are nice, and everything 'flows' smoothly during play.
Tour mode (when you become a player for a 3 year period) is strangely addictive, as you build sponsorship, your skill levels (which you acquire points towards through numerous challenges) and compete in various events.
Negatives --------------
I'm getting bored of the game, and its only 3 weeks old! There is a lack of consistency in play, particularly putting, which infuriates.
The computer is unrealistic in how good the opponents are, varying from one year a winning score might be 130 (lower the better), the next year the same players are shooting 120 - this seems to be the opposition improves as you improve.
The upgrades to equipment can mostly be earned very quickly so visits to the tour shop soon become rare as you are fully equipped, so to speak!
You play off against famous players (i.e. Vijay Singh) to unlock their video bio's. Not worth it, the video's last for about 5 seconds of unique footage.
Beyond Tour Mode i think the game will have limited appeal.
Long term - what is it doing to the toggle stick of the PSP - i worry that sooner or later i am going to snap the thing.
Overall ----------
As a golf game, a great game, which will appeal to the purists and to an extent to the novices. If you have a friend with PSP and game then I imagine the link up play extends the appeal.
As a PSP game, not exactly original, definitely not worth it if you have an earlier version.
Unless you are a big golf fan - leave this one on the shelf.
