TIGI Bed Head Brunette Goddess Conditioner

I paid £6.29 for 250ml from Beauty Bay which is a couple of pounds more than my regular John Frieda Brunette Conditioner, but the difference in my hair is phenomenal and well worth the extra £2. After having my first haircut in 18 months, I made a resolution to really look after my hair and do my best to keep it in good condition. It's amazing how healthy, glossy looking hair can transform your look - you can look immaculate in every other area but if your hair looks straggly and messy then there's no getting away from it. I was determined to find a really good daily conditioner as I find that this is really the make or break step of my haircare routine, and after lots of research it seemed that Tigi's Brunette Goddess Conditioner was highly rated all round. I'll be frank, I wasn't expecting anything particularly special here - I don't rate Tigi products all that highly in general, tending to find them a bit gimmicky, and as a regular user of John Freida's Brunette range I expected it to be pretty similar, only at a slightly inflated price. According to Tigi, Brunette Goddess Condition contains soy and wheat proteins which help the hair to retain moisture and revitalise shine, as well as panthenol to strengthen the hair reducing breakage and split ends. Breakage is one of my biggest hair problems - my hair is very thick and quite long, but despite the thickness is very prone to breaking, leaving flyaways and meaning I never really achieve that nice sleek appearance I strive for. Anything that promises to strengthen the hair is bound to awaken my curiosity and end up in my shopping basket for a sample.

Brunette Goddess comes in a 250ml bronze tube that stands on its flip top lid, meaning the conditioner slips down to the lid which, in theory, makes it easy to get out. I say in theory because the conditioner itself is amazingly thick - I've never known a conditioner like it! It takes a good squeeze to get it out of the tube, but is actually pretty easy to control the amount you want, which is a good thing as you really only need the tiniest amount of this stuff as its just so luxurious. My hair is just below my shoulders and because of the thickness there is a lot of it, and I find that a 20p sized blob is enough to cover my whole head easily. Despite the thickness it spreads through the hair really easily and very evenly - I rub my hands together first and then stroke through my hair.

As soon as you squeeze the conditioner into your hands you will get the most fantastic smell - to me it's a sweet caramel , vanilla, chocolate smell and reminds me a lot of Baileys. It's absolutely divine and the perfect choice for a brunette conditioner.

After leaving on the hair for between 1-3 minutes, you simply rinse out and you're done. It rinses out nice and easily despite the thickness and as soon as my hair began to dry I could see the difference this had made to my hair - it was soft and silky to the touch and had a fantastic gloss to it and looked sleek and healthy in a way that my previous conditioner (MOP Glisten) just didn't come close to. I found styling my hair after this was a dream - the comb just glided through it and the hair just fell into place, and the heat of the straighteners didn't manage to dull the shine that the conditioner had given.

As a sufferer of greasy roots and dry ends I find this a great conditioner to tackle this. Normally I don't condition the roots of my hair as it encourages grease, but with this I can get away with running it through the roots no problem, which means I suffer less from frizz around the crown. I also find it remarkable that a conditioner which gets such great results is able to be used daily, but I've had no problems in that area either, with no sign of build up or dulling with repeated use.

After a month's use of this I do feel that it has managed to reduce the amount of breakage that I'm suffering from. Normally at this stage (about 6 weeks after a haircut) my hair would be starting to look a little bit worse for wear after putting up with constant hot styling tools and aggressive brushing, but I have to admit that my hair currently looks as good as it did the day I got back from the hairdressers - result!

My only slight disappointment with this is that unlike the John Frieda brunette range, it doesn't seem to encourage the natural highlights in my hair, rather just enhance the natural brunette colour. But hey, the colour still looks great and glossy, so no real complaints!
