Having the thickest hair in the world I am always on the look out for products that promise to leave my hair a bit more manageable and free from that horrendous frizz that has haunted me for as long as I can remember. You know what I mean ladies a wee bit of moisture or a hint of heat and you end up looking like you have put your finger in an electric socket!!! This was until I discovered Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Serum and I have never looked back.
The Packaging
The serum comes in a real funky looking bottle which you would associate with the Tigi brand. Although in reality it is just cheap plastic with the product inside. The front of the bottle has the Tigi logo and the name of the product in black lettering. Furthermore it has an interesting screw top nozzle, which I haven't seen before. It's a great design non-drip and the contents don't spill out if you drop it. I presume that this is for applying the product direct to the hair. (Don't personally use it this way myself though).
The Product
The manufacturers claim that this product will "control your freakin hair", tame frizz and curls and will leave the hair super smooth, light and non-greasy, and in addition provide super straight hair with a glossy finish. The serum is a bright green colour although not a hideous shade. When held up to the light you can see small silver flecks in the liquid, a little bit like glitter. It smells gorgeous like a mixture of subtle apple and melons, which is so fresh and gorgeous. It comes in a 250ml bottle.
Ingredients
This product contains the following : Aqua,polyacryamidomethylpropane sulfonic acid, polyquaternium-11, glycerine propylene, glycol, triethanolamine, oleth-20, dimethicone copolyol, parfum, disodium edta, kiwi, fruit extract, jasminum extract, and a million others.
HowTo Use
Wash and shampoo your hair as normal, rinse and repeat as desired. For best results Tigi of course recommend using their own shampoo and conditioners apparently this is to prime the hair. As it will complement the serum? Once towel dried squeeze a small amount of the product into the hands and rub together. Apply the serum liberally to the hair avoiding the roots and ensure an even amount all over the hair. Blow dry and style as normal. This product can also be used on dry hair to prevent frizziness. If any signs however do appear during the course of the day apply a small amount and rub over the crown and ends of the hair to minimise this.
Advantages
Smells absolutely gorgeous, the scent of the product lasts throughout the day and leaves your hair smelling very clean and fresh. On really thick hairit works like a dream just as described by the manufacturer. This product lasts for ages, possibly because you really don't need to apply too much each time you use it and touch ups to fight frizz are not a regular occurence as this product is so effective. Personally I think that it makes the hair shimmer slightly. (must be the little silver sparkles in the product). It leaves the hair soft and healthy looking. Unfortunately i cant comment on whether it works on curls as my hair is straight.
Disadvantages
Shop around for the best deals as there is a wide variation in price particularly in online stores. Needs to be purchased online or in professional salons only. Would be great to be able to pick it up at the local Tesco. If you overdo it, it can make the hair although straight a little bit dull. Not compatible with my hair when I use it dry as it feels a bit sticky and It looks like I have smeared chip fat on it!!!
Overall Ratings
I would give this product a 4 star rating you really cant fault it (except I cant use it on my hair when dry). If I was going to be picky I would say it can be a bit expensive however this is comparable to similar products on the market. Give it a try.
