Hair serum is as staple in my hair care routine as shampoo and conditioner. If I didn't use a serum my hair would scare young children and birds would nest in it - it really is that bad when left to do its own thing. I have tried so many brands over the years it's unreal - and I dread to think how much money I've spent doing so! I spotted the Bed Head Some Like it Hot serum online quite a while ago, but having had a rather negative experience with another Bed Head serum (Control Freak), I was a little hesitant to try this. I finally decided to take the plunge when I spotted this for a bargain price online, and I'm so glad I did, because I'm pleased to report it's true love!

This serum is from the Some Like it Hot collection, a relatively new addition to TIGI's Bed Head family. As well as the serum a matching Some Like it Hot shampoo and conditioner are also available. This is marketed as a heat and humidity resistant serum, and should protect from heated appliances, which for me is a real bonus as I straighten my hair about five times a week. It also claims to protect hair colour too, which is great for those of us who dye our hair.

The serum comes in a bright orange bottle adorned with the Bed Head logo. It's not really the prettiest bottle ever and I'm not all that keen on the colour, but I've come to expect brightly packaged products from TIGI and the fact it's functional is more important than what it looks like anyway.

To use, you simply dispense a small amount of the serum into your hands, rub together and then smooth through the hair. It says on the bottle to apply to towel dried hair, but I have used on both damp and dry hair and found the results to be pretty much the same.

The serum is clear and when you dispense it you will notice that it has a very sweet, fruity scent. It smells a bit like when you step into a salon, and although I don't usually like my styling products to be strongly scented this is the exception, as it just smells so good!

I find this very easy to apply and the consistency is brilliant. Thick serums will weigh the hair down, whilst it can be easy to saturate the hair with a very runny serum, so I'm always pleased when I try a new serum to find it has a lovely consistency like this one. It runs through the hair very smoothly and doesn't feel greasy or heavy at all.

The results this product gives are fantastic. It smoothes my birds nest of frizz and makes my hair look smooth and sleek. It gives a fantastic shine to my hair that looks natural and not too over the top. My hair looks much healthier and not so dry and straw-like.

As for protecting my hair from heat, I must admit that is something I find quite difficult to judge. I had my hair cut a couple of weeks before Christmas, from right down my back to just past shoulder length, so most of the damage was chopped off! I must admit my hair is not looking particularly damaged and I haven't noticed any split ends, but whether or not this is down to the serum I can't tell - although I would like to think so.

If you are familiar with hair serum, you may have noticed that there seems to be two standard sizes of bottles that it comes in - 30ml and 50ml. In contrast, Some Like it Hot comes in a 100ml bottle, which obviously means it lasts twice as long.

I buy mine from www.beautybay.co.uk which has the cheapest prices (that I have found anyway) online, at just £6.29 a bottle. Prices do vary depending on where you shop - I have also seen this costing up to £11 on some websites. As TIGI is a salon brand, it's not usually available in the shops, although some places such as TJ Hughes and TK Maxx do sell TIGI products.

On the whole I'd have to say that this is an excellent product. I have been using it daily for quite some time now and I love everything about it - the smell, the way it makes my hair look and feel and the fact it comes in a bigger bottle than I would expect. A brilliant product - five stars!
