Tigi Honey and Oatmeal shampoo is designed for hair that is dry, frizzy and in need of some TLC. Mine is all three, and I don't suppose that I help matters by using straighteners on it. But there you go, we suffer for fashion eh?
I have been debating whether to buy this for quite some time now, but haven't bothered due to the cost. I read a few reviews on it, all of which have recommended it, and by chance saw an advert in a magazine for the shampoo and conditioner - a twin pack containing a 750ml bottle of each for £14.95.
So, I made an executive decision and bought a pack. Tigi products are only available in selected hair salons, not in pharmacies or beauty stores. For a better deal try looking online at various beauty sites, or on Ebay for some bargains.
The two bottles look exactly the same, the same pump top, the same colour - the only difference being that one says shampoo and one says conditioner, obviously. This may be a bit awkward if you are in the shower scrabbling about the shelf with soap in your eyes. The product claims to have natural plant extracts and vitamins A C and E to nourish the hair. I was surprised to find that it did indeed contain many plant extracts and relatively few synthetic ingredients, well, compared to many other brands.
The next day I washed my hair with it. I used two pumps of the shampoo which was more than enough for my hair which is thick and just below shoulder length, so it goes a long way. I was surprised to find it was white in colour, and it was only that the plastic bottle was tinted green. Yes, I really am that easily fooled. Anyway, the colour makes no difference. It had a lovely smell, if a bit strong, I can't quite think what it reminds me of, but I thought I could detect a hint of cinnamon or cloves, although checking the ingredients I could see neither listed. The smell only lingered on my hair for a short time afterwards.
It formed a lovely rich lather but did take a bit of rinsing out, it could be that I put too much on my hair as I hadn't realised how rich it was. My hair felt gorgeous afterwards, lovely and soft, even while it was still wet. So far so good. When my hair had dried I was slightly disappointed to find that my hair was still frizzy, although not as bad as usual. However it did have incredible shine, which is usually not the case with curly hair. The smell did not linger on my hair which I decided was a good thing, as although the scent was pleasant, I think I would have got sick of it after a while.
That evening I straightened my hair and found that my hair looked a lot better and it looked healthy and shiny, and stayed straighter for longer. The next day I was even able to wear my hair down to work and it stayed relatively tidy, despite the humid evening.
The only downside is that it does make my head itch a little bit the next day, so if you are prone to itchy scalp anyway I would not recommend it. I find it better just to use it when I want to straighten my hair to go on a night out, and use a regular shampoo in between.
I love this shampoo and would like to say I would buy it again, I probably would if it was on offer again, however it is quite expensive usually so I would have to think about it, or check online if I could not find it at this price again.
Sounds great - my hair is naturally straight (permed then cut short - big mistake) - so now goes frizzy - when i straighten it again. couldnt afford this at full price but may look out for the bargain prices C.
