awful lot out of the in-game cinematics, the wealth of game options and the fancy new damage engine. However, what is also crucial to the game's success is this:TOCA Race Driver 2plays like a dream. It follows the narrative-based approach of its predecessor, as you become a genuine character in the game. That takes you from the early races where you attempt to make your name, through to the big championships where you then have to prove it. There are plenty of championships to take on, too, and as with the wide selection of vehicles waiting to be driven, these are gradually unlocked as you make progress.Even in single-player mode, though, the races are genuinely immersive and wildly entertaining. Sure, the game punishes your mistakes, but that's as it should be, and it rarely leaves you at the point where you don't want to have another go after a winning position has gone horrendously wrong. Fortunately, the AI of the computer-controlled cars is pretty much spot on too--they make mistakes, they adopt different driving styles, and only on occasions betray their non-human status. Online, the game is even better. Twelve players at a time can compete and it's here where theTOCA Race Driver 2is at its most exhilarating. And then there are the production values. From the stunningly realised cars and courses, through to the tightly woven voiceovers and gloriously cinema-like action replays, it barely puts a foot wrong. Not only then is the game a joy to play, it's also a joy to look at. The only minor niggle is that those who bought the previous game may have wanted a little bit more from the sequel, but that's not likely to stop them enjoying it.TOCA Race Driver 2is an action-packed, compulsive and long-lasting racing game that's very unlikely to disappoint. --Simon Brew

with a whole new gameplay twist. The usual single race and multiplayer races, plus 38 tracks and 42 cars, are still here, but the real development is the storymode. You take on the part of young racer Ryan McKane, initially testing for a small racing team with the ultimate aim of becoming world champion; the result is a very immersive experience in which the player progresses with McKane, moving through simple races and on to the cut and thrust of the worldwide circuit. Those familiar with the previousTOCAgames will immediately notice that the car's handling has been made easier--a second spent off the track doesn't end up in those frustrating spins. However, the more arcade-like style of handling may lead to fans of more hardcore racing games being a touch disappointed. Graphically the game is great, although a 60Hz mode should have been included. Damage, scenery and all the other cars whiz around the courses with little or no slowdown. All in all,TOCA Race Driveris a superb racing game mixed with a new innovative style of game progression that produces much entertainment and excitement. --Laurent S Hall

Cars - Championship ----------------------------
Ford Mondeo - My favourite car by far as its the easiest to handle is the Mondeo (If only they drove as exciting as this in really life!!). Its a smooth drive, that takes corners at speed well and for me its the machine I can win the most with.
Honda Accord - This car sounds by far the most sporty and therefore to me the most sexiest. If you accelerate too fast when you are leaving a corner you will find the backend wobbles so it becomes very hard to keep it going in a straight line, unless you come of the accelerator and let the car regain control.
Audi A4 - This car has a very light rear end, therefore if you go a little too fast into a corner your rear end will slide out rather nicely, unless your going too fast and you will take off!!!.Overall I find this car difficult to control when corning as it doesnot respond very well.
Vauxhall Vectra - The Vectra is a very boring car in reality and so to in this game. Dont get me wrong its nice enough to drive and handles well. However it is not going to set your heart racing or win any races.
Other cars in this series include Volvo S40, Nissan Primera, Peugeot 406, and Renault Laguna.
Cars - Support Car Championship --------------------------------------------
Ford Fiesta - Also like the real car, too much over steer, and very light with lots of body roll make it difficult to control when throwing it hard into a corner. This car is very basic just like a real Fiesta....or otherwords totally rubbish. I havenot manged to go around the track without coming off, never mind win it!!!
Van Diemen Formula Ford - This is an animal like no other animal. It doesnot matter how much I try to master this "go cart" I cannot. Its perhaps because I treat it like a car when driving that I do so much damage. You cannot accelerate when touching a corner otherwise the rear wheels spin you off the track. Its hard to control even when you going in a straight line if your accelerating hard.
This are the other two cars you can race until you win a race with one, when you can unlock the following vehicles depending on the amount of points. Locked vehicles are Lister Storm (wow), AC Superblower, Grinnall Scorpion, TVR Speed 12, and the Jaguar XJ220. At least Codemaster have been responsible, you dont want a novice like me in control of Lister Storm when I have problems controlling a Fiesta!!!!
Tracks ---------
The following British tracks are included on this game:- Thruxton, Silverstone, Donnington, Brands Hatch, Oulton park, Croft, Snetterton and Knockhill. Graphics of the realistic tracks is first class, however at the start of the race when theres 10 cars shown on the track, my computer does have problems and the graphics do start to jumpand slow down, but only at this point.
On the game you can replay the action, and actually save them so you can brag to your mates with prrof of how good you really are. With the replay mode you can fast forward, rewind, change the car your looking at, as weel as change the camera angle and location.
Im not sure about the minimum requirements for this game as I lost the box , but on my computer which is a Cyrix MII 300 with 64MB and an ATI Expert 98 graphic card, everything normally works very nicely. I was happy with installation of this game and it does come with a built in uninstaller.
Im not sure what the selling price of the game is but I paid £32.99 and Im happy that I got value for money. And I still enjoy playing on it 6 months later, even when writing this opinion I spend more time playing on it.
Advantages: Pretty realistic and damn good fun Disadvantages: Random arcade moments and aged graphics
...and the game reflects that. TOCA 2 is set during one of the BTCC’s stronger periods with many entries from manufactures such as Volvo, Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Nissan and more. You take your pick for the car you want and can then set off for a championship featuring pre and post race commentary from Top Gears Tiff Needell! Although should you not fancy a championship you can have a single race or a time trial, each with a few variations such ... ...I’ve actually been to, but TOCA includes a whole bunch of UK circuits as well as 10 mysterious bonus tracks, one of which is a street race in America! Track realism is pretty good, although some things have changed due to the games age – for example, last time I went I sat in a grandstand at Maggots and when I was blasting round it in my Formula Ford I was a bit surprised to see it’s not there. So surprised in fact I managed to ...

Advantages: Excellent Graphics, Great In Multiplayer. Disadvantages: hard to handle the cars, at first.
I decided i should write another Review/Opinion on this game, as i have just re-installed it on my pc, and just realised how much i missed it (sighs).
WHen you have installed it and start the game, you come to the Main Menu. I know there is a intro, but to be honest, i have never watched intros on any game, i know i am probably missing out, but i just want to play the game :).
So you are at the main menu, and you can now decide how to setup the ... ...see how good your computer is, and set it up accordingly, the better the game, the higher resolution of the graphics, and the better looking and faster the game will become.
So you have setup your graphics, and now it is time to set up the controller you are going to use. I would reccomend a Sidewinder as this has just about enough buttons to make the most of the Options you can have, such as looking to the left, and to the right, choosing the buttons ...

Advantages: Sparkling graphics; aggressive AI; terrific weather effects; good variety of cars and tracks Disadvantages: Weak physics modeling; arcade-style championship progression
...RAC British Touring Car Championship, TOCA 2 features full licensing from the BTTC and several of the works teams that compete in this prestigious series. Hammering a four-door Volvo sedan around some soaking wet English circuit may not seem terribly glamorous, but the intense competition and enormous factory support the series receives from major European and Japanese automakers has made it almost as popular in Britain as NASCAR is here in the U.S. ... ...As with its parent game, TOCA 2 emphasizes on-track action over technical racecraft, so you won't find any complex garage menus or detailed telemetry screens here. The physics modeling for each of the cars is fairly unsophisticated and does a somewhat poor job of simulating front-wheel drive vehicle dynamics. Although the game does model brake lock-ups quite convincingly, the absence of any proper understeer response can make the cars extremely touchy ...

Advantages: A very enjoyablve game for the first week or two... Disadvantages: ...with no long term challenge.
"TOCA 2" is without doubt a highly impressive game in many respects. It makes many signifiant improvements over its' predecessor, particularly in terms of graphics and immediate playability. However it is not without its' faults, which are sadly too numerous to merit giving it a top mark. The main problem is that the game is too easy. I'm not trying to be boastful or anything, but compared to other racing games (Such as "Colin McRae Rally" by the ... ...One Grand Prix 2" by Microprose) it is too straightforward to sail through on any difficulty level. The reasons for this are twofold: Firstly, there appears to be no option allowing Championship mode to be played with races at real-life length. Considering the developers have gone to the extent of replicating the new-for-'98 'feature race' pit-stop system, having races that are less than half the length they should be is bizarre. Secondly, the much-touted ...

...Codemasters tried something different with Toca 1 and now they’ve improved on it in TOCA 2. This sequel is basically the same as the original but it is still worth buying. The graphics are much improved and if you have a reasonably modern machine you can run it in 1280 with no problems or slowdowns. The sound isn’t much different but still good and the gameplay is improved. Races are now more difficult, there’s more options, the handling is better, ... ...more tracks and many, many more options. They have the full championship, time attacks, a test track, single races and support cars. The support cars basically gives you another set of games, with single-seaters, TVRs, Jags, Fiestas etc… You can race championships in all of these, giving you one of the biggest racing games in history. The one thing that is kept is the semi-arcade quality. Codemasters have applied a simulation feel to the game, but ...
