There isn't the option to be able to book in advance, however if you should need to wait for a table, you have the option of sitting in the bar while one becomes available.

Being owned by Mitchells and ... ...crumbles. Typical English desserts. Toby offers a bottomless custard jug with their desserts. They say if you finish it they'll top it up again for free. You really need to like custard to take them up o this offer. Personally I can't stand the stuff.
* Service *
The staff always seem to be attentive, and quick to bring extra drinks, and the bill etc. They do appear to be very busy all the time, and it's probably a bonus for them that they don't ...

Advantages: only £5 per person Disadvantages: told how long to wait, but usually shorter than told
...we decided to go to Toby Carvery as we could either have the carvery and help ourselves to as much or as little as we want - ideal for the youngest generation and the eldest or the set menu.
We went to the Toby Carvery in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
On entering the grounds we found plenty of free parking surrounded by plenty of well set out lawn and garden.
On entering Toby Carvery you have to wait for the waitress to ask how many of you there are. ... ...general through out all the Toby Carverys or just to this one.
Then you can have stuffing balls, huge yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, new potatoes, and cabage, cauliflower, peas, carrots and a few other vegetables.
There are many sauces to help yourself to and of course gravy.
This way you can have as much or as little as you wish.
How much? £5 each. That is a good price for this.
If you dont want the carvery and I did notice there were very ...

...on a Sunday. Enter Toby Carvery, my culinary saviour.
Toby Carveries are the restaurants within Toby Inns, which are situated nationwide. There are two close to me and I visit both regularly. Like the best chain restaurants, they are consistently the same whichever you visit.
The Ambience
Usually hectic and buzzing. Toby Carveries are very popular. To calm you down though is traditional but slightly quirky décor (the hundreds of ... ...and TV series to old goldrushers in their dungarees to some very odd people and animals indeed) and dim but not too dim lighting. There are also log fires, which seem lovely if you get the table beside one of them, but soon have you sweating like the roast hog you’re eating.
The Service
You are shown to a table by a waitress who gets your drinks while you decide what to have. All the waitresses who have ever served me have been ...

Advantages: Excellent service, excelent price & the best roast Ive had ever! Disadvantages: Can only have one serving of meat
Toby Carvery had been recommended several times to my parents and myself by my brother. One day we finally decided to try it out and we took a drive to Ainley Top, Huddersfield. Well, it was definately worth it and we have been back several times since! When you arrive you wait for the waiter/waitress to show you to a table. We have never had to wait longer than 2 minutes and there has always been tables available. Once seated you get to have a good ... ...CARVERY! I've always gone to Toby Carvery during the day but I remember reading somewhere if you do chose to go after about 7pm you don't get the choice of 2 courses, just the main meal. Childrens meals are also half price.
So, once you have informed the waiter/waitress what you want you are free to get up and go to the buffet area (this is if you are going for the carvery option). You do have to stand and wait in a line to be served by the chef ...

Advantages: Delicious food, and you can go up for more Disadvantages: Had to wait for them to refill the veg
I visited the Toby Carvery with my boyfriend's family - there were 6 of us so we'd booked a table. We got there a bit early but they seated us straight away and got our drinks ordered. We didn't have any starters because we wanted to have as much room as possible for the carvery! They had 3 meats available - beef, gammon and turkey (the most humungous one I've ever seen!) You can have a mixture of all 3 or just one, so I had beef and turkey. The ... ...a fan of yorkshire puddings, Toby will not fail to disappoint! They are all freshly home-made and are so huge they practically fill the plate! It's probably a good idea to get one of them first, then fill it with everything else, otherwise you have to perch it precariously on top of your piled up plate!
I stuck to normal gravy being a traditional girl, but for the more adventurous they had about 6 different types including a mustard one which my ...
