~ White bottle ~ Toilet Descaler ~
* Thickened formula for extra cling.
* Quickly removes all traces of limescale build up.
* Removes mineral deposits, rust, uric acid and other acids. (Not having much of a scientific background, I'm presuming that the above are all nasty things you would find in a loo!)

This smells of a combination between bleach and a very strong washing up liquid. Not quite as 'hitting the back of your throat' aroma as some cheaper bleaches but not a refreshing smell to it, rather quite a clinical smell.

I rarely buy things like this, usually just stick to good old domestos, rubber gloves, a brillo pad and hand action but in my recent visit to Costco I saw this pack of 3 for which I assumed would be cheaper than general supermarkets but have since found out they weren't!
- Price -
This retails in Tesco for 82p, yet I paid 84p per bottle. Robbed by a huge sum of 2p per bottle.
- Packaging & Available Fragrances / Types -As stated earlier I got a pack with 3 different fragrances / names to them:
Green bottle ~ 'Fresh'
Blue bottle ~ 'Ocean' On both of these bottles it states: ' Hygienic cleaner, removes dirt, descales and destroys odours'.
* White bottle ~ 'Toilet Descaler' This bottle states: 'cleans, freshens and removes limescale'.All 3 bottles are the same size, 750ml and have the same great curved neck line so that it is easy to get under the rim!
A plus point of the product is that the cap is a safety one so that you have to squeeze two ridged areas and turn at the same time, brilliant for those of you with little ones who are always tempted to open things that they shouldn't! Not great for arthritis sufferers of which I know someone who just can't manage to open the top of products with safety caps.
- What do SC Johnson, the manufacturer's promise? -~ White bottle ~ Toilet Descaler ~
Thickened formula for extra cling.
Quickly removes all traces of limescale build up.
Removes mineral deposits, rust, uric acid and other acids. (Not having much of a scientific background, I'm presuming that the above are all nasty things you would find in a loo!)
~ Blue bottle (Ocean) & Green bottle (Fresh) ~
Hygienic cleaner.
Removes dirt and descales.
Neutralises and destroys unpleasant odours, at source and in the surrounding air.
Unique angled neck reaches under the rim.
Thick formula, clings to the bowl.
Long lasting fragrance.
- How to use it? -I'm going to focus on the loo although directions are given about urinals but not many of us have those in our houses although it would solve the ongoing argument about leaving the seat of the loo up!
Flush the loo
Direct the liquid under the rim and the bowl by squeezing the bottle.
Leave for 5 minutes
Brush stubborn stains with a loo brush.
Flush the loo again.
- My Experience of using them -
~ Application ~
These are extremely easy to use, only a gentle squeeze of the bottle is required for the formula to come out and the angled neck is perfectly formed to get right under the rim.
Since all 3 bottles are still full, I can't comment on how easily the liquid comes out when you are very near the end of the bottle but I recently saw an advert for this stuff and they promised that it doesn't make a difference due to it's 'unique' angled neck!
Although the instructions for use state that you should whizz the stuff round the bowl, I have found that this really isn't necessary. By putting it under the rim, it trickles down thereby covering the bowl area of the loo.
As far as clinging to the loo, it really does which for me is a bit of a pain. I would much prefer it if you could apply the formula and it would be washed away by the next flush.
I detest loo brushes, all those germs. The very thought makes my stomach turn, I therefore don't possess one so it's back to the 'disposable' rubber gloves and a srubber / brillo pad to rub away at the liquid and the nasty germs and limescale deposits. Therefore there is no advantage for me in terms of ease in cleaning the loo as I did this with my reliable Domestos.
- Fragrances -
* White bottle ~ Toilet Descaler This smells of a combination between bleach and a very strong washing up liquid. Not quite as 'hitting the back of your throat' aroma as some cheaper bleaches but not a refreshing smell to it, rather quite a clinical smell.
Green bottle ~ 'Fresh' This is much more refreshing and pleasant. It certainly does have a 'fresh', clean smell to it which as they promise destroys any odours in the surrounding area as well as just in the loo. Not too overpowering.
Blue bottle ~ Ocean All I can say is that having swam in a couple of oceans, this doesn't smell a bit like either of them! It has a very, very strong smell which when applied manages to seep it's way round the house and even downstairs. Granted, I have a small house but a toilet cleaner aroma isn't really what you want in your lounge or even kitchen! It is a fresh smell but just too overpowering for me!
The 'Fresh' bottle is my favourite as even if it does travel in to other rooms in my not so large house it isn't too overpowering.
I will however be using all 3, hating waste!
- My Verdict -
I have to admit that all 3 do what they promise: efficient cleaning products, descalers etc However what I'm not overly fond of is the sheer strength of their odours and the fact that I still have to scrub away to remove the liquids which look almost like gel from the rim and bowl area. A simple powerful flush to remove them would be ideal for me! Hence the 3 star rating!
Advantages: Kills germs on impact, helps reduce limescale, freshens and cleans Disadvantages: Not effective against a big build up of limescale
...We finally came up with Toilet Duck, no idea where the inspiration for this particular subject came from but looks like we’re stuck with it! :O). Just don't poo-poo the idea, ok?
Toilet Duck is a toilet cleaner, plain and simple. It’s intended to ‘provide complete hygiene for your toilet, leaving it fresh and clean’, well, that’s what it says on the pack at least, and you can't beat the cistern! But one of the best ... ...coat the inside of the toilet bowl without being so runny that it disappears into the depths below before having any chance at zapping those unpleasant germs. Plus, in addition to zapping germs on contact, it also continues to work under the waterline for additional cleaning and disinfecting. It works well against a moderate amount of limescale build-up too, providing you let the product ‘cling’ to the offending areas long enough for ...

The bottle top was quite tough to remove, a good thing because although all of these products should be stored well out of the reach of tiny fingers, it would be very hard for any child to open the bottle.
The citrus smell was good, tangy, fresh and really very appealing.
I always use my ...

...in posting my opinion on Toilet Duck, which was written as part of a challenge with Louise Read (squiggles). Sorry Lou and everyone else, but in a way I am glad I am late because in the last few days I have had an experience with Toilet Duck which has changed my life, changing my previous opinion a little. How exactly can Toilet Duck change your life, you may ask! Good question! Well, I recently bought a house in Sheffield and last weekend the sale ... ...built in 1908, but the toilet was fairly new. However, perhaps because the house has been deserted for so long the germs had found a cosy nook in my toilet basin and I almost fainted when I saw the state! I found some supermarket brand toilet cleaner kindly left for me by the person who had sold me the house within reach but just looking at it made me somewhat homesick, as I knew my parents had Toilet Duck which I had until now taken for granted ...

Advantages: See Opinion Disadvantages: See Opinion.
I was using Duck toilet cleaner for since I moved out of my parent’s house. I found it to be one of the most strongest and most efficient ways of removing all germs and bad smells that occur from time to time in the loo. Value.

Advantages: big 750ml bottle Disadvantages: neither cheap or thick
Toilet Duck (you can tell I have just had a stroll around the house to find something to opinionate over can't you!)has been around since I was a little boy. I can remember my parents always had a bottle by the toilet, by the unique shape the bottle has.
This product used to be available in a far wider range of other pruducts like solid rim-blocks and colourants and stuff, but the range seems to have got smaller recently.
On with my op.....!
---WHAT ... ...the front.
The words Toilet Duck are in red capitals across the duck's side.
At the top is a yellow strip saying it's a new fragrance! This has been around for decades!
Also in red letters on a yellow background it says
99.9% germ kill.
---PRICE & SIZE---
We got this at Asda for around 99p. This isn't bad considering it contains 750ml.
However, Harpic is cheaper and so are the store own-brands.
---WHAT DOES IT SMELL OF?---
It is called 'fresh' ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Toilet Duck Toilet Cleaner"
This is the new brand of domestos toiletcleaner that has been advertised lately, and in my ever search for a complete loo cleaner i went to the supermarket and was finally tempted by the domestos 5x toilet bleach, and also toiletduck (please see other review). This cleaner has been advertised constantly on the tele lately and temptation finally gave in!
Anyhow, this is quite a relatively new product and is a bleach specially designed for use in the loo for killing germs, etc, which is all good by me! It is 750ml in content, and grey in colour and cost £1.48.
What does it do?
On the bottle it states 'Domestos 5x Longer Lasting Toilet Bleach with C-TAC Sticks around to kill germs 5x longer.
Germs breed and multiply every time the toilet is used. Domestos 5x has a revolutionary new formulation with C-TAC - it kills germs ...
Advantages: more hygienic loo brush, removes stains Disadvantages: you flush the germs, but does it kill them?
In my quest for the ultimate toiletcleaner, i've tried this nifty toiletduck fresh brush. I saw this advertised loads recently and finally gave in when i saw it at the supermarket. Priced at £3.37 i thought it was quite expensive, but i suppose you do get the starter kit including the handle, storage holder, and 4 cleaning pads.
Anyway to anyone not familiar to with this product, it is supposed to prevent the use of a loo brush which is supposed to prevent moving the germs from one place to the other, since you just drop off a biodegradable pad into the loo and flush.
Anyway, after assembling i give the loo a good rub with the pad, where some blue liquid appears on the loo bowl wher you rub this around. Then you just clip the handle and flush the pad away.
To be honest i am not convinced by this product, i can see it would ...
Advantages: kills germs, leaves loo looking spotless. Disadvantages: could smell better
This is a review of harpic powerplus toiletcleaner.
Like most mum's i like to make sure that the loo's in our house are kept hygenic especially since my little one is now beginning to use the big toilet. In the past i have used all sorts of loo cleaners to assist me in this dreaded task like domestos, toiletduck, parozone, and various incarnations of value brand products mainly in an effort to make this task as interesting as possible. So browsing at sainsburys on the toilet cleaning shelf i surveyed my options. For me i'm looking for a product that is easy to use, kills germs, smells nice and leave the loo actually looking clean. I was immediately drawn to this harpic powerplus in its smart black, yellow and red decor and i remembered the recent tv adverts of the product. Having used other versions of harpic before i thought ...
