Since I got my Tom Tom I've been driving to places I never would normaly go, as the fear of getting loast would put me off. With Tom Tom you can say good bye to getting lost. It is a clever little satelite navigation system with so much more to offer than just the route instructions. Tom Tom 300 is a very clever litle device. It is small enough to fit into a palm of your hand and light enough to carry around in your bag (as you wouldn't want to leave it in the car) It comes with a plastic holder that attaches to the windscreen, and as if by a mirracle it actually stays there. It has an amazing suction and it really stays put. If anything, you might have a little trouble peeling it off the windscreen when you want to take it off. The screen is very nice size and
easy to use. It uses tap tap technology and it is so simple. You can set your home destination, so where ever you are, all you have to do is tap on HOME buton and it will take you home. I must say that I'm in love with my Tom Tom. To calculate a route, you can use a postcode finder, or just input the name of the town/street/house number and off you go. When calculating a route, you have a few options. You can choose from fastest route, shortest route, avoid motorways, walking route, bicycle route and limited speed route It gives you talking instructions as well as very realistic 3D maps that have a live update of your travel. You will see your car on the map in a shape of an arrow and it will travel on the map with you. It is very very clever. You can chage the colors of the map to suit your mood and there is also a night map color, that is a bit darker and dim, so not to cause a problem in night driving. You can also change the voice and language in which Tom Tom will speak to you. Which I find particulary handy, as my father doesn't speak English, and when he comes for a visit I let him use it, as without it he would get so lost in London. Tom Tom doesn't come with traffic update, but you can pay for yearly subscription and save yourself a hassle of getting stuck in bad traffic. Now I would give the traffic update 8 out of 10. It is not updated frequently enough so sometimes you can still get stuck in roadworks, as Tom Tom doesn't get daily updated information for the roadworks. So watch out for the road works, as you can't rely on Tom Tom for that. You can also get the speed camera info for your Tom Tom and it will alert you when ever there is a speed camera and what the speed limit is, so you don't have to worry about it. But again a word of warning, don't rely on it 100% as there are new cameras being put up almost daily, so some of them are not updated yet. Tom Tom's precision is the amazing thing, you put in a post code and it will take you door to door, it really is amazing. Few things to watch out for It sometimes gets confused and the screen freezes, it mostly happens on a complicated roundabout or a new road layout, it only takes few seconds to get it self together again, but that can be enough for you to miss the exit you need. The good thing is, that if you do miss the exit, it will calculate a new alternative route for you straight away, so don't worry. Sometimes the talking instructions are not that clear, pay attention to the map it is showing you, it will make more sense. Once you get used to the way Tom Tom "talks" you will understand it better, and know exactly what it means. (an example - it will say "turn left and than turn right" and it actually means go straight over the roundabout) Also sometimes it might tell you to turn into a no entry road, that is because they changed the road recently and the Tom Tom map has not beed updated yet, don't worry though, as it will calculate an alternative. When you are in a tunnel, you are likely to loose the connection with the sattelite, but as soon as you are out it takes a second to connect again, so no reall problem there. If you are planing to use a traffic update, make sure that you have the mobile with a bluetooth and that your service provider supports Tom Tom. I was with 3G network and had to change as they didn't support Tom Tom and I couldn't connect the mobile to it to get the traffic info. Also remember that if you don't have it in your monthly allowance, you will be charged for it by your network provider, as Tom Tom uses wireless internet connection when connected to your mobile.

I like to use the Australian voice, it sounds sexy!!! My dad uses a Croatian voice as he doesn't speak English. I was thinking of downloading John Cleese voice, ut not sure if it's worth it?

I love my Tom Tom too. I love all the different voices you can get, as it keeps me company on long journeys.
