The TomTom 910.
Well this mere mortal is here again. Over the years I have owned 3 TomTom devices, the TomTom Classic, TomTom 500 and now the TomTom 910. Family members are benefiting from my cast-offs in a big way. So imagine my delight when visiting my local Halfords on the 3rd of May 2006 to purchase screen wash, I found myself being mysteriously drawn by an unknown force to the GPS display. I could feel my credit card trembling in fear, in a ... ...What's in the Box
TomTom Go 910
A change from the 300/500/700 series, it has a 4 inch screen; this is smaller than the last series but still easy to view. The unit is a slightly different shape; it's a bit pointier at the back. There are some new features on the unit: - A light sensor, I have found this very useful, it measures the light inside the vehicle and adjusts the level, it also turns to night view when it gets dark. The microphone is ...

I ended up getting the TomTom 910 as a result of a crap experience with the Navman 720. Best mistake I ever made!
The TomTom was recommended to me by several people but I wentmy own way and bought the Navman 720. I like the looks of it and the inbuilt camera. I had nothing but problems. In the end, the company I bought it from offered me the pick of the GPS systems they sold - after much research I chose the 910.
Whereas the Navman would take upto ... ...of Interest available for the TomTom than any other GPS out there. Everything from Hilton Hotels, B&Q, KFC to naughty underwear stores, car main dealers, petrol stations (including by make if you are particular) to every kind of attraction. An essential POI is the speed camera database and the 910 is superb at warning you about these!
The 910 comes with European and US maps but you can buy more if you need them but this alone makes it useful outside ...

Quick review of TomTom GO 910 GPS receiver Review ofTomTom GO 910by

i have been through the tomtom list of go's, started with the 500, had it stolen. got a 700, had it stolen from my car on my own drive under cctv, got a 910 and have had a few problems with this. the original mount has a known fault which gives problems with the microphone and speaker, so i contacted tomtom c/s and they sent a replacement, when this arrived it solved the problem, hower a second fault on the new dock was that the charging light comes on, but the t/t does not charge, so i contacted t/t and again their answer was to send another series two dock, which has the same fault, just to prove it was not the t/t, i tried it on the old dock and it charged fine, it is an excellent piece of kit, shame about the let downs on the widscreen dock, watch this space

Quick review of TomTom GO 910 GPS receiver Review ofTomTom GO 910by

NOT impressed! just as bad as ONE xl... I'm a business travellers and I do over 1000 miles a week. I used this system for 6 months and during that time it navigated me to the wrong address 20% of the time, this is very frustrating when you are trying to reach your next meeting. I am afraid this is yet another attempt by Tomtom, and others alike, to come up with many useless features on their sat nav systems and totally forgetting the point of having a satellite navigation system. I now own a German made sat nav Grundig Nav 100, which has yet to let me down after 5 months.

SatNav devices remind me a little of mobile phones in the early nineties. They are a little bit pricey, a little bit niche and until recently the preserve of gadget freaks and those who drive for a living.
These days they are a lot more more
