use and plan routes really quickly so if you don't already have a sat nav and are looking at going abroad to USA/Canada a TomTom with one of these SD card upgrades is ideal. It just slots in where your original card goes and works almost straight away? simple! TomToms that are compatible with these maps are available from under £150 all though you can buy later models with more features such as cameras etc for a little bit more. This is the best satellite navigation I have ever used and I have found a lot to be rather slow and hard to use the menus. TomToms are available in car shops such as Halfords and these have some of the best prices for them and often have offers on. I would definitely recommend this to anyone planning a trip to USA/Canada. I will also update this review if i experience any problems on trip with these map ...

Review of TomTom Map of the USA and Canada Maps

A package of maps worth having

Advantages: Ease of use and price

Having used a Tom Tom Go 700 for a number of years, I decided to update the maps of Western Europe. Tom Tom uses software called Tom Tom Home which is used to download the updated maps. Having connected Tom Tom Go 700 to my PC, via a USB cable, it was a simple matter of clicling on the relevant icon on the Home Software, paying for the maps, and downloading them over the internet. Payment was straight forward. It is undertaken electronically either by credit or debit card, and the down load commenced. Because of the size of the map file, it took a little time to download (I do have broadband running at 8mb band width, so I suppose a lesser bandwith will take longer. Use of the system is simplicity itself. You are given a choice of country, and then you select address, or point of interest. ...

Review of TomTom Map of Western Europe Maps

TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns

I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving.
