. . . Upon opening the box, you will find:- Software, application, user manual, and maps of Western Europe on DVD. Also voice prompt files, and TomTom Home. The all importand Quick start guide, this shows you how to do the installation on your phone or PDA. An installation poster. This simple pictogramme is easy to understand, and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. You will also find in here your product code card, this is required to activate your product online.
Version six is the very lastest version. It contains detailed maps of 20 countries over Europe Is easy to install using TomTom Home. A 1 GB memory card is required, this is not included in the pack for some reason, I find this strange, as it would cost TomTom a matter of pence. You have the usual choice of 2d or 3d maps.
The following countries are covered:- Great Britain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, This coverage is 99% Poland is only 84% however. All these countries are in what they call door to door navigation.
Of course you still have to usual options of route choice - quickest, shortest, or avoiding tolls etc. There are also thousands of points of interest.
Speed cameras are already pre-installed, this saves you doing it. Yes you can still download all the usual voices too. There is also a speeding alert mode, this saves you having to keep checking your speed.
This version is compatable with the following :- Sony Ericsson W950i Acer n310, n311, N35, N50 Asus Mypal A632N, Mypal A636N Dell Axim X51, Axim X51V Eten G500, M600 Fujitsu Siemens Pocket LOOX 720, Pocket LOOX N520 HP HW6510, HW6515, iPAQ H4150, iPAQ H4350, iPAQ hw6910, iPAQ hw6915, iPAQ HX2190, iPAQ HX2490, iPAQ RW6815, iPAQ RX1950, iPAQ RZ1710 HTC P3300, P3600, TyTN II, X7500 Imate JAM, Jamin, PDA2K, PDA-N Mitac Mio 168, Mio A201, Mio A701, Mio P350, Mio P550 O2 XDA Exec, XDA Orbit Orange SPV M1000, SPV M2000, SPV M3000, SPV M650, SPV M700 Palm Treo 650, Treo 680, Treo 700W, Treo 750V Qtek 9000, G100, S100, S110 SFR s300+ T-Mobile Ameo, MDA Compact, MDA Compact III, MDA III, MDA Pro Nokia E50, E61, E65, E70, N73, N80
As for availability, you will find these all over the place, high street shops, supermarkets, online, everywhere. If buying mail order, just be aware some companies charge a fortune for postage.
There is apparently, something called "coolbrands" this site identifies cool products, and TomTom is on their list.
You should also be aware that the satellites that feed these machines, are due to start falling out of the sky in about eight years time, we can only hoope they are replaced as they do, but the cynic in me thinks the new ones may be "not compatable" so we have to replace every sat nav in the world! . . .
(+) Large clear menu for touchscreen. Quick setup to navigate to postcodes. Clear driving instruction. (-) Poor POIs, Lack of route preview. Missing villages. No cam preview found.
(+) Cheap compared to standalone, removes the need for seperate sat nav (-) No post code only search but this can be resolved with adding a house number of any house
I like your cynisim regarding the replacing of the satelites. Very good review.

now you've told us the hype ~ what is your experience? does it really load? which unit have you uploaded it to? how easy is it to use and read on these units? there is enough information to be helpful to those who understand what you are trying to say, but it lacks personalisation and usage experience
