My son has got a garmin which he does not use because it always directs him wrong. It is easy to use with the latest technology. I would recomend this to anyone but don't go for a garmin. This is the most reliable resonable navagator I have used. This also has speed camera detection and poi's. It is very user friendly with over 5 languages to chose from also there is a lot of thing you can add on to your navagator like george bush's voice or more poi's. The tomtom also offers you traffic notifications for an annual price. Don't go for phonys go for tomtom!

Review of TomTom Navigator 6 Maps of Western Europe GPS software
Advantages: great controlled Disadvantages: slow planning
I use TomTom Navigator 6 with my mobile phone - MDA. I have also tested nearly all other software for navigation so i will try to compare.
TomTom has the best menu navigation - it has only 5 items menu so it is possible to browse in menus when you are driving even if you have got a small display on your PDA. The menus are simple and it is very easy to adjust something very fast. Maps for TomTom are made not by countries as it is normally done by ... ...switch anything - there brings TomTom some difficulties when you are passing borders between two map sectors. One more thing that is not a plus for TomTom is the space required for maps. The other software has got a maps requirinch much less space on your memory card. TomTom is also not very fast when planning a route. If i compare with other software the planning in TomTom is the slowest, but it doesnt matter in the most cases.

Advantages: Large clear menu for touchscreen. Quick setup to navigate to postcodes. Clear driving instruction. Disadvantages: Poor POIs, Lack of route preview. Missing villages. No cam preview found.
...removed the Miomap programme the TomTom Nav 6 installed quickly and easily and after selecting a few options, was up and running. The selection of only 2 UK voices was very disappointing, and neither really appealed. Navigating to a post code is simple to set up, but I could not preview the route until the unit connected to satellites. I had to exit the navigation screen an select a view map icon to see anything. Typing in a town name is predictive, ... ...to visit being unknown to TomTom and not shown on their street maps. Further investigation showed other village I had visited in Europe in the past to be missing. I also found planning routes with way points unnecessarily complicated. Navigator 6 can be updated using 'TomTom Home' on Windows PC. Version 1.5 can be downloaded for this purpose. However when connected, no map or speedcam updates were offered leaving me with rather old information. 'Home' ...

...successor to Nav 5 and TomTom Mobile 5 and can be used on a number of Mobiles and PDAs. My review is based on my experience using an MDA Variao 2.
I recently took a trip to Europe on my bike and got a copy of TT Nav 6. Not actually knowing much about where I was didn't give me much confidence but the Vario 2 with the Nav 6 installed was a lifesaver. Map are so detailed and being on the bike meant fuel stops were frequemt but I was able to plan this ... ...If you pay extra for Tomtom Plus, you get even more features such as traffic and weather updates, detailed city maps and different navigation voices.
A simple but clever tol is the route recalculation. It updates your route if anything causes a need for a diversion.
All in all, a pretty cool piece of mobile software, go get it! ...

I already have a PDA and so i decided to buy this software with the GPS receiver. I have only used it for a few outings, but so far it hasn't missed a beat. The map is very clear with very clear directions. It also keeps up with the pace of the car relatively well, so the screen isn't 50yards or so behind the cars location.
It has some good features, such as you can program your home address, so you can simply click 'navigate to home' no matter ... ...so comment destinations can be easily pulled up without having to re-enter the postcode. Also, in the bottom right of the screen it gives the estimated time of arrival, how many more miles is left of the journey, and how long the remainder of the journey will take. Also, and by far the best feature, if you take a wrong turn, instead of just stubbornly telling you this, the software will recalculate a new route from your current location within seconds.
