or navigating town centres (Limoges, Sarlat etc.) can be daunting to say the least, not with Jane (oops, TomTomWesternEurope).
It is very hard to think of any negatives, the only one, and not such a biggie, is that sometimes she (Jane) tells you to turn right or left when really it is only a bend, or bear left or right when it is a turn.
On the way home we decided to avoid Paris and go by night, no problem, night time settings dim the map, and rural roads are no problem.
For our next trip we intend to go into Spain from France and we have no doubt that TomTom will deal adequately.
If anyone is getting a TomTom, buy the WesternEuropemap, it will save you its cost on one trip, in petrol, maps and above all, stress, how on earth did we manage without? ...

The map of WesternEurope comes as a DVD which you download to your Tomtom, this is done using the free programme called Tomtom home. You then are able to use your Tomtom one, Tomtom Rider, or any of the Tomtom Go series in Europe. The map in this review is version 6.5, this is the latest version out, and is pretty much up to date.

Having used a TomTom Go 700 for a number of years, I decided to update the maps of WesternEurope. TomTom uses software called TomTom Home which is used to download the updated maps. Having connected TomTom Go 700 to my PC, via a USB cable, it was a simple matter of clicling on the relevant icon on the Home Software, paying for the maps, and downloading them over the internet.
Payment was straight forward. It is undertaken electronically either by credit or debit card, and the down load commenced.
Because of the size of the map file, it took a little time to download (I do have broadband running at 8mb band width, so I suppose a lesser bandwith will take longer.
