The manufacturer says “TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain” is a portable car navigation system with a fixed monitor containing an on board memory card map storage medium. It combines ease of use, portability, touchscreen technology and an elegant, unmistakable new design. Drivers can enjoy the benefits of a TomTom ONE immediately, thanks to TomTom’s award-winning plug and drive navigation software pre-installed on a memory card. This means there is no need to download complicated software, just plug in and start using. TomTom ONE comes with the latest regional maps of the Country, and with TomTom ONE everyone can find their way from A to B!
With TomTom ONE you can drive relaxed by choosing a multitude of routes; such as the quickest, shortest, journeys avoiding toll roads, or those avoiding congestion charge areas. Multiple waypoints and destinations can be incorporated into the journey and you can even route plan utilising desired arrival time.
The volume of voice instructions will increase/decrease depending on the speed of the car and the TomTom screen is anti-glare to allow optimal viewing. Postcode Navigation is a key feature of the system to enable the simple and accurate selection of your destination in the UK.
The TomTom uses clear instructions as follows: -Crystal clear 3D and 2D graphics for perfect viewing day and night. -View the Route: review and test the calculated route before you start driving. -Hear clear spoken instructions in your own language. -User Interface: now including 22 languages. -Sign post information (if available from map data) displayed in navigation mode -Compass Mode: displays compass on screen to have even better orientation while driving.

We should have purchased one of these ages ago. Our family journeys are so much more relaxed now as even local trips can make use of the TomTom and help find better routes. You just use the touch screen to enter a destination, or even better a postcode, and away you go. Also, if you go wrong, the TomTom ONE reassesses your route and works out the best way again.
I believe the Tom Tom One V2 is very good value for money now that it is around £150. I recommend that you also avail yourself of the safety camera download which can sometimes be included in the price. This is updated regularly and I recently noticed that we were being advised of temporary motorway cameras during a journey on the M6. The touchscreen is easy to use and the Tom Tom navigates accurately anywhere in the country. Using the different languages can be amusing, especially when the American voices substitute "rotary" for roundabout. The one downside is that the device needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter of the car to ensure it keeps going. Overall, however, the positives of this device significantly outweigh the negatives.

Along with affordable pricing structure and a excellent selling product, this version is the most sought after Sat Nav system that is appealling and is efficient and graphically delightful. Personally, I will agree with Cool Brands UK decision. I bought the TomTom One some eight months ago. I had some experience of using a navigation system as my previous car had one built in and I became quite dependent on it.
Cost
I had bought a new Audi A4 sometime in 2003 and remember paying around 1000 Pounds extra for the built in sat nav system. It was a bad decision and would recommend you not to make the same mistake.
But for my recent car, I was determined to do the research and then buy a ... ...I finally settled on the TomTom One because I personally found it to be the best value for money out there at the time. I ended up paying only £220 fron Dixons web offer. But presently it can be bought for less then 170 Pounds.

After years of planning routes via roadmaps and downloading dodgy directions from internet route-finders, I finally decided it was time to take the plunge and join the sat-nav revolution.
My friend bought his in the Summer of last year and he was constantly raving about how good it was. I could tell it must have been good because he used to have the worst sense of direction I've ever known and was constantly getting lost. Not anymore.
I decided ... ...going away over New Years and thought it would come in handy. I wasn't wrong! I bought the Tom Tom one from PC World for £159.99. I wouldn't be surprised if the price is down to closer to £100 by the end of 2007 as I have noticed that the prices do seem to be getting more resonable as demand has risen over the past few years.

...I finally decided on the TomTom One Version 2 UK Edition because the price was down to less than £200 in September 2006, when I bought it. TomTom was also the make most recommended by other drivers I work with who had been using SatNavs for some time.
I have found my TomTom extremely easy to use and generally accurate. Being able to input a full postcode plus house number means that it is quick and easy for the device to locate your final destination ... ...problem, except when using the TomTom on foot, or on a bicycle. In a vehicle, you simply connect it via the provided cable to your cigar lighter socket. This charges it up, and keeps it charged. Although no cable is supplied to recharge from the mains (available at additional cost), I have not found I needed to do this. I paid £195.00 for the Sat Nav device because being on my own in the car most of the time. I needed a companion, something to help with navigation. TomTom is an excellent companion. TomTom sat nav system requires regular upgrades from online. The downloadable file is not too big if you have broadband, though can take 20 minutes or so for a dial up connection. The software is very easy to use and is worth having the £20.00 add on fee for all the speed camera alerts as the traffic police always change the locations of cameras every 2-3 months.
