I did have quite a few problems with the ordering and collection ... ...
The XL One comes in a pack with a small black pouch case, which is fastened by velcro, a mains charger, an in car charge (to be plugged into the lighter switch in the car) and the holder/stand that suctions the Sat Nav to the wind screen. Also Included in the price was a £10 online redeemable voucher, which can be used to purchase a different case or celebrity voice overs for those boring drives.

Installation ----------------
The installation was as simple as turning it on and picking a language. It comes fully loaded with all maps and software and a wide choice of voices already preprogrammed in.
I did accidentally choose Dutch as the language and when asked to confirm I somehow managed to press yes. (Think I was having one of my many blonde moments) This is very easily rectified, just a case of choosing languages again from the menu (its the one with the flags) and picking English.
Ease of Use and Display ----------------------------------
The navigation around the menu via touch screen is very easy. The display is clear and the fonts are easy to see. All options on the menu are also accompanied by a small diagram or picture, so in the case of those who are not great at reading (or us who change language by accident) It is easy to understand what you are pressing.
Being a Sat Nav its primary funcion is to get you safely from A to B without getting lost. Simply input the postcode and any additional preferences (no motorways etc) and your off. The voice guide is accurate and allows enough time to notice turns etc before telling you to turn. The display is large for those with less than great eyesight and all settings, Voice, display etc are changable. The map that shows you where you are on the road is clear and colorful and easy to glance up at while driving.
The battery life is extremely good and lasts if unplugged for a good 3-4 hours. But of course it does come with the in car charger, so can charge while you drive.
Updates ------------
They recommend when you buy a Tom Tom that you "update" it once a month, This involves plugging it into a computer and downloading any map updates. I would definately recommend this, I used the Sat Nav a few weeks ago trying to find a friends house, who had recently moved. After 20 minutes trying to navigate my way round Enfield town centre ignoring the Sat Nav telling me to turn right down a no right turn road I found another road and the Sat Nav recalculated and got me there.
Any new road layouts, new traffic light systems etc are all downloaded onto the Sat Nav and now it doesn't tell me to go that way, but picks the next best route.
Conclusion ----------------
As a whole family, me, my sister and mother all use this one sat nav now as we all find it so simple. It does the job, as long as it is updated frequently and i've never had any problems with it.

We have been contemplating a sat nav system for a while now, and found that Tesco were offering the TomTom ONE XL for under £200, so we took the plunge.
As part of the initial package we got the unit, USB cable, in-car charger, windscreen holder and software.
The unit is nice and compact, but has a larger screen than others at 4.3inches, this gives a better overview of the area you are travelling though. ...

I was looking for a no nonsense sat nav unit that was small enough to fit inside a jacket pocket when not used. Tom Tom had just introduced the basic 'One' model with the new XL (extra large) screen. It came with a car based power lead, USB lead, CD, manual, SD card with UK & Ireland on it & what I thought at first was a rather flimsy windscreen mount but no slip cover. The flimsy looking mount has turned out to be quite fantastic, once attached ... ...can be difficult to remove!! Even when driving over rough roads the unit never shakes or vibrates & I don't feel the need to upgrade to a more durable mount. The sat nav unit very quickly finds a decent reception & entering a location is made easy with a choice of a post code or address. There is only one switch on the unit for switching it on & off, all other taskes are carried out with the touch screen. I have about 40 favourite sites entered into ...

There is no need to download complicated software, just plug in and start using. Itc omes with the latest regional maps of your Country/Region. Brilliant device to have, auto re-routing is a life saver if you miss your turning and all the on board features make it a pleasure to drive once again!
