Advantages: Brilliant golfer, gentleman and a true friend.
Disadvantages: None

...
It's true that Tom Watson has won many tournaments. However, there is so much more to this man than being a great golf player. He is a gentleman and a gentle man. I cannot recall a single time when I have seen him argue, shout or show any anger whatsoever. Indeed, he seems to have an almost permanent smile on his face whenever he plays. Perhaps, it is because he realises how fortunate he is to have such a wonderful talent for what he does, ...
...some facts and figures about Tom Watson.

He was born on 4 September 1949 in Kansas City, and graduated in Psychology from Stanford University in 1971. It was here that he actually first became interested in golf. Needless to say, he made it onto the University golf team (how lucky were they ?!).

After his graduation, he turned professional. He was not immediately successful, and he gained a reputation as someone with ... more

His Place In History

Advantages: Amazing powers of recovery, immensely marketable
Disadvantages: Sadly passed his peak

on advertising contracts. He chose his endorsements wisely though and he also settled down as a married man. Ballesteros did much to lift the European game at a time when the Americans were dominating the majors through players like Nicklaus, Miller, Tom Watson and Tom Weiskopf and a little earlier Lee Trevino. Only Gary player interrupted their supremacy for a few years. His wins in the Open and at the masters opened the door for Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam, and later Bernahrd Langer and Jose Maria Olazabal all won the Masters green jacket. Olazabal and Ballesteros forged a formidable partnership in the Ryder Cup in the later years and helped the Europeans to more success. Sadly Ballesteros is now ranked over 1100th in the world. An astonishing high number. He will of course remain exempt for the Open championship and the Masters until he ...

Is Tiger really the greatest

Advantages: great competitor
Disadvantages: lousy temprement

seems to escape some people is that Mr Woods is an icon to the younger generation, do we really want to see more of golfers throwing clubs down, cursing when a shot doesnt work they way it was forseen. There are many positive aspects to Tigers inclusion and enhancement of the sport but until he can carry himself like a Tom Watson or Jack, then he will never be the greatest golfer of all time, at least in my opinion ...

Best days are gone!

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

This is the Zimbabwean's umpteenth visit to the Open Championship and it's a visit that has brought him some golden memories since his debut in 1978. Price's first brush with Open history came in 1982 when he finished tied second behind winner Tom Watson after a costly final round 73. A brilliant final round 65 at Lytham by Seve Ballesteros left Price the runner-up again in 1988 but he finally got his hands on the claret jug after a storming finish at Turnberry in 1994. The former world number one also took the USPGA title that year and although he hasn't quite found that level of form again he still deserves respect in any Open. In the three St Andrews Opens he's contended since 1978, he hasn't really sparkled (44th in 1984, 25th in 1990 and 39th in 1995) but he's performed heroically at the Old Course in the Dunhill Cup. In the last ...
