Okay, this one is only an issue and not an important point here to figure out. I am not sure the truth of the issue, either.

The main film stars in Tom & Jerry are a rat (mouse) and a cat. The cat is called Tom and the rat is called Jerry. Both successful stars never die from time to time. They are fighting and fighting, and Jerry is always the only winner most of the episodes.
Why are they fighting? It is a fact that cats and rats (mice) are not friends. Practically the creator(s) of these two characters might have taken this fact. That is why most people might think that Jerry is a great hero in the cartoon-films.
General Stories
I see that the films consist of funny stories. The duration of each episode is about 15 to 20 minutes averagely. Nice music as the background of each play makes the stories more attractive. The (loud) voices of screaming tell the audience who is suffering from a hit, a knock, a shoot, etc. I am sure that Tom screams the most!
Running here and there, jumping up and down is the main characteristic of this film. Chasing is the role of Tom. Hiding and taking revenge are the roles of Jerry.
Overall Tom is a naughty one. He disturbs Jerry all the time. Jerry is a clever one, but loves taking revenge to Tom. Although Jerry always succeeds in taking his revenge, Tom never gives up his bad habits!
The writer of the stories succeeds in producing some funny and stupid actions of the both creatures; the stories are not boring, but entertaining. I see that a child can stand watching the same episode for times without feeling bored. My Final Thought
Tom & Jerry is an entertaining. The stories show animosity of the two main characters. Although they are fighting roughly, the audience must be laughing to see their acts.
Personally I think this kind of stories is not good for a very young child who does not understand what is a good or bad deed. I am afraid that it can affect a child’s manners. Instead of the rough manners found in most stories, there are a lot of dangerous actions.
After all – the final decision depends on each couple of parents for they must know well their child(ren) intelligence.
Advantages: Entertaining stuff for kids and adults alike Disadvantages: can be a bit violent and not enough were made.
Tom and Jerry are THE best cartoon duo of all time. They create madness and mayhem wherever they go. Tom is a blue tomcat who lives with his mistress, a big, big lady who is afraid of mice, and often chases them around with a witches-style broom.
Jerry is the little brown mouse who, strangely enough, inhabits the abode of Tom and his mistress. He lives in the mousehole that has the perfectly formed arched doorway that all decent mouseholes have..!
... ...go to Butch for protection. Tom usually ends up being nice to Butch in an effort to show he's not going to hurt Jerry.
During any chase between Tom and Jerry, there'll be the opportunity to ransack the kitchen, living room, hallway, in fact everywhere within the house. It's often Tom that comes off worse though and often gets his comeuppance in the form of a telling off and brush-over-the-head episode from his mistress. Sometimes he even gets kicked ...

...first to write anything about Tom & Jerry. Well I think this is a classic cartoon, the basis of which is used in many other cartoons, it is the chase. In tom and jerry obviously it is tom (the Cat) chasing Jerry (the Mouse), other such characters are Wil E Coyote and Road runner. This is a good bunch for a simple cartoon with comic violence!
Episodes
The episodes are great, these often include the same classic gags, (e.g. TNT, hammers) over and over, but we get different topics, like, one episode might be about a band, the next about ... ...How good is the animation?
I'd say it's pretty good because most of the episodes were made in the 1980's-90's.
Is it funny?
It is VERY funny, but this might depend if you like comic violence, which I do!
How good are the sound effects?
In the show, you mainly get music, but often the sound effect of a bomb, or a ton block dropping on the head are good!
How good is the story?

Tom and Jerry has to be one of the all time favourite cartoon, it rates highly amongst everyone, whilst adults can’t get over how good it is, children find it difficult to accept that a cat and mouse cause each other so much harm. This is harmless fun and so much enjoyable fun.
The cartoon centres around a cat and mouse who chase each other relentlessly all day long, I must admit you do feel sorry for the mouse being chased by the cat all ... ...a dog turns against him.
This is great viewing for children but I do see why parent’s some time worry about the violence side of it, as it does get heated at times, but it’s all fun.
I like the music that accompanies the episodes it’s really good, and fits in well with the episodes. In summary a cartoon that I still like to watch, it does make you laugh which is important, and for entertainment sake it is good aswell. ...

With my cousin staying for the holidays at our house, I have watched quite a few episodes of this cartoon, and still it remains a favourite, the antics of Tom and Jerry are long lasting. It actually surprises me how long they have been going. Tom and Jerry try to out wit each other, it’s usually Tom the cat trying to catch Jerry the mouse.
They do all sorts to each other, they hit each other with pans, put obstacles in the way that try to catch the other out. My cousin is intrigued at how nothing serious happens to Tom and Jerry, especially after they have taken a good beating of the other.
I suppose you need to explain to a child it’s not real, and when they hit each other so hard, it’s only acting. I suppose thinking of it, it is quite violent, and many might say not suitable for children.

So this is the story line of every cartoon but somehow it stuck...
Tom and Jerry fight like Cat and Mouse every programme and find more and more ways of hurting each other.
They each give as good as they get and most people tend to fall on Jerry's side (the mouse) although personally I think he is the most evil, sometimes bringing in a neighbour's Bull Dog to aim in Tom's beating.
Fryingpans, irons and anything lying around Tom and Jerry aim to hurt, however this is a nice way to hurt each other, there's no blood and they always come back from the dead.
This is a nice cartoon and not really as violent as it may seem, I mean sometimes Tom and Jerry even become friends and work together to get at another character.
Could be violent but hey, they always come back to life at the end. ...
