Tomb Raider Underworld is the third game developed by Crystal Dynamics, and is a direct sequel to the memorable Tomb Raider Legend (Note that Tomb Raider Anniversary is a remake of the first ever Tomb Raider and that it features scenes and part of the plot that helps to shape the story behind Legend and Underworld). If players are unfamiliar to the story, there is a trailer available under the Cinematics heading that recaps the story to date.
Underworld features unique animations unseen by previous titles: the various environments Lara explores throughout the game can be interacted with in a completely new way. For instance, when Lara is in the jungle she will use her hands to push large plants and vegetation out of her way so that she can run through it. On top of that, the weather affects the landscapes. Lara?s footprints in wet mud are ?remembered?, when Lara falls over or kneels down to pick things up she will get dirty, but don?t worry the rain will wash it away soon enough. Players should also be warned that hanging from ledges and climbing can be especially treacherous when wet and Lara is more prone to slipping.
Also, when Lara acquires a motorbike, players can have masses of fun running down foes (unlocking the ?road killer? achievement), power sliding around corners to maintain speed and pulling skids in the mud. Rain trickles down the bike, more noticeably when it is stationary and the headlights can sometimes help with finding treasures.
The gameplay is different, with the three main elements of a traditional Tomb Raider (puzzle solving, combat and climbing) being integrated together to make the places visited during the course of the story more of an experience. A new melee system has been added as part of the combat system so now Lara can punch and kick enemies that get too close to her.
Another fantastic element to the combat gameplay is Lara?s new ability to target two enemies at the same time (of course you need Lara?s trusty pistols or sub machine guns to do this with). But probably the greatest addition to Underworld is the Adrenaline One-Shot Kill.
After fighting enough enemies Lara?s adrenaline bar (the little figure next to her health figure) will turn orange and all the player has to do is get close to an enemy, press the X button and line the two reticules together in time to pull the trigger and perform the head shot. It is done in slow motion and, the first time you do it, you can?t help but stare with awe as Lara back flips before ending the life of her adversary.
One flaw I will point out is that occasionally Lara?s movements can be awkward and downright irritating as sometimes you will tell her to do something and she will do it at a tangent. Jumping especially, she tends to have a habit of missing crucial leaps and plummets to her death. But trial and error always works.
The voice cast is once more well suited, with most of the voice actors reprising their roles for this game and the all-orchestral soundtrack score is simply breathtaking. Other changes include Lara?s outfit which is no longer her khaki shorts and green top, and her hair is now worn in a ponytail as opposed to the braided thing she had going on before.
The story is incredible and even educational as a large part of it looks at the Norse Mythology and, for someone such as myself who finds myths and legends very interesting, this is a game you certainly don?t want to miss out on. Puzzle solving is still a big part of the game and still as complex to work out sometimes as it ever was but the cinematics and the progress in the story is reward enough.
Happy Gaming!
Summary: A well developed game and a must have for adventure fans. There is so much to enjoy in this game and so little time to enjoy it in?
Advantages: Quality Graphics, New game features Disadvantages: Game is'nt long enough

This is Tomb Raider nine, and it's a magnificent game. Crystal Dynamics is doing something very exciting: it's getting better with every game. This one is by far its best, and the most significantly boss fights have been removed and replaced with gargantuan, elaborate puzzles. It's got more polygons? Lara gets even more down and dirty now? Crystal Dynamics, do you have any clue what's good about the Tomb Raider games?
As it so happens, ... ...a coincidence that the best Tomb Raider since the first one was number eight - a remake of the first one. Both those games were 90 per cent Tomb Raiding. Underworld is ninety five per cent Tomb Raiding. It's lady in shorts vs cavernous ladyrinth of huge, cold ancient stone. That excites me alot more than the technology dipicted to Lara occasionally getting slightly muddy.
The reason it excites me is the places themselves. The first Tomb Raider carved ...

...walls and shooting dogs. Tomb Raider Underworld is an absolute joy to play for any Lara Croft fan. It continues the story line from Tomb Raider legend, ties off any loose ends and throws in some amazing gameplay. The best thing about Underworld is the way in which Lara has become almost a human encased in your TV screen. Her skin glimmers realistically with the diamond droplets of water from the sea in which she swims, mud cakes itself onto her body ... ...The detail which has gone into this game is astounding. The graphics on the whole are breath-taking, everything looks real and as though you could reach out and touch it. Lara's surroundings are beautiful works of art and I must congratulate the developers for working so hard to make this game so rich and vivid. Controlling her feels a lot more real as well, her movements become more life-like. Her body is a lot more supple, she bends and flips with ...

Advantages: Better gameplay, abilitys and graphics are amazing. Disadvantages: Not long enough, dodgy camera angles make it difficult to play!
I'm a keen Tomb Raider player and I found this game enjoyable, I thought the graphics were great and the scenery looked amazing. You get to use a motorbike for half the game which breaks up some of the levels but also makes it seem shorter and leaves you wishing the game lasted longer, but I think that the same can be said for the last 3 games at least. They have made Lara's ability's slightly more realistic, and she is more combative now which is ... ...to the ones done in Casino Royale. Loose ends were tied up with regards to the story of her mother but the story didn't grab me and I still felt that something was missing when I had finished playing.Despite this the game is worth playing and I was amazed by some of the improvements made, although I did get caught out by the camera angles on more than one occasion. It engrossed me and would recommend playing it, however I'm not sure I would have ...

Advantages: EXCITING GAME Disadvantages: Poor quality game
The WII versionof TombRaiderUnderworld is a huge success. There are a few small differences between the controls compaired to Xbox360 and playstation 3's, such as tweaks to the level of designs, specific puzzles but they vary.
but like every game there is a down-side to it.......the puzzles are very simple and the bugs, creatures and the camera issues are evn worse than what they are on Nintendo's console. The combat side of it is also very fiddly, and the motion sensitive controls feel shoe horned in to areas where they dont really fit.
But on the other hand it has its good points there is some nejoyable adventuring to be had in TombRaider, but there are many levels to complete to find them out.
This TombRaider uncovers dark territory as it procedes through the game. Its the same sort of adventure that you'd expect ...
