I am a breast feeding mother. I love breast feeding my son. However this means that we are constantly together and if I ever need to leave the house for any reason whatsoever, even getting my hair cut, he has to come with me.Which is fine apart from the fact that I don't drive and have a pram or a sling to transport him in. My hairdressers is rather awkward to get into and there is no way that a pram would go through the door. My sling would make it impossible to get my hair cut. So I knew even before he was born he would need the odd bottle, even just to give my boobs a break and sometimes in necessity.
So I started checking out the bottles available on the market. What on earth were most of them for, did the teat size and flow matter? Would he get nipple confusion and leave us fighting to breast feed upon my return? These were all thoughts going through my head at the time. Then I bought my breast pump, with a little looking into and the help of a mother and baby, pregnant woman, what ever magazine. In it was a guide to manual breast pumps and the Tommee Tippee was rated top. Fine, I was in Morrisons, actually reading the magazine as I plodded along following my other half and my Mam, both with a trolley each shopping for essentials.
As we got to the bit with the baby bits and bobs on it I noticed they stocked the Tippee breast pump and without further ado I mentioned it to my mother, had a quick look and she bought it for me. When I got home I opened the box to have a little look, conveniently there was a small sterilising box and wide neck bottle, along with a storage lid and a teat and lid for the baby to drink from. I had previously heard about the closer to nature bottles and it was nice to actually have a look at one. With a very wide base and neck this bottle has a large teat which I have since discovered that my son doesn't get too confused by. As it is large and curved to mimic the breast he is happy to change from breast to bottle and back again as he latches onto both in exactly the same manner. The teat that was supplied was a starter teat and very slow. The soft silicon teat warms slightly when the milk is warmed in it, again, supposedly to mimic the breast. The bottle I received was a 5oz bottle and also displays the volume in ml. I was so happy with the look of this bottle that when I was next shopping I bought two more small bottles and four nine ounce bottles. I honestly didn't expect to use them that much and didn't have a clue what sort of amount a baby would take and then bought the Tommee Tippee steriliser to go with the set. Well, why not! It had three Nuby bottles in that I honestly wasn't that impressed with. However, I do have the attachment to express into them so I can't complain, they are great for breast milk storage jars.
So, what happened when my baby was born? Well he had low blood sugar levels and a low temperature and received two top ups with a prescription formula from the breast feeding councilor who told my partner and I not to stop breast feeding (he was worried I wasn't good enough, puh!) and that once his body got over the shock of being born all would be well. He also got one top up of proper formula off a midwife. In retrospect I should have told her where to go but lets not start this debate here and now! Once we got home after 40 hours in hospital we carried on breastfeeding and were much happier to get by without anybody's help thank you very much.
Until... ... we got thrush, him in his mouth, me in my boobs. Feeding was agony as was wearing tops for that matter, and we both in pain through the entire feed. So whilst it was being treated I began to take one feed a day off for my boyfriend to give to the baby. Robert had been asking for ages that I express my milk into a bottle to let him feed his son and I had held off, trying to keep my supply at an even keel and let it settle of its own accord. However, as we were both in pain the idea of sitting back through a feed was just too much temptation. And a proud Daddy sitting feeding his son was a wonderful sight. Until this point my other half had very little to do. William couldn't smile, merely soiled EVERY nappy and fed. Constantly, or so it seemed. He still wouldn't take a dummy and so he wanted to feed for comfort as well as nutrition. He accepted the bottle no problem, fed eagerly for a mere 3ozs with only a little grumble of pain and then slept peacefully in his Daddy's arms. It was a proud day. I have continued to express one feed a day for the special people in his life to give to him. Sometimes I am in the vicinity pottering on with the washing up or mopping the floor, and just sometimes I am in the pub, having a quiet drink with William's Daddy. Apart from now he prefers 9ozs!
So, what are my thoughts on this bottle? Magnificent. He has had no problems with nipple confusion, he feeds happily from them and he isn't getting too used to bottles and expecting them to be easier than the breast because I have continued (as advised) to use the first teat. As he only has one bottle a day and has for two months, all of my teats are in good condition. Apart from the one that went into the dishwasher with a plateful of baked beans.... He is able to hold them himself already, due to the wide neck, narrow middle and wide base, although I think that it will be a while before we let him sit with a bottle on his own. For obvious reasons!
These have lasted well and although the teats are starting to get rather used they still haven't cracked or split. They wash and sterilise easily, the teats are readily available (as are extra bottles) and they are easy to see in their silver packaging in most supermarkets.
They are available with pink, blue and white rims in 5 or 9 ounce bottles. For three larger bottle you pay about £9 for the smaller bottles as little as £5 for two, depending on where you shop.
So for breast feeding mothers or mothers wishing to change from breast to bottle I would highly reccomend these. I guess they are also good to have as a bottle for formula feeders too as the little hole that allows air to go out of the bottle and so prevent windiness and colic really does work well. We have never had a problem and he brings his wind up with little or no fuss, usually only a tiny burp.
Advantages: Clear measurement readings, durable, the nest best thing to breastfeeding Disadvantages: Can be pricey at some shops
...eyes on the very attractive Tommee Tippee range, so began comparing them with others on the shelf and were very impressed. The pack of 3 including teats were priced around £9.99 from Tesco, although we had more of a bargain by purchasing the Steriliser which came with 4 bottles and a wire brush for around £15 with the closer to nature teats included. Without the current offer on the Tommee Tippee range we would have paid about £7 more. As our baby ... ...fed him by bottle so we could keep an eye on his intake and my partner wasn’t really interested in breast feeding so we started using these immediately with SMA Gold formula. Look & Feel ************** The first thing you will notice about the clear bottles are their easy to hold curved shape which is fatter on top and narrower at the base making it less likely to lose grip whilst feeding and they are also very light. The shaped bottle top is also ...

Tommee Tippee Closer to nature Bottles
The moment I saw these bottles I thought that they looked really smart and as I had an Amazon voucher to spend I thought I would invest in a couple and see how they faired compared to the more widely used baby bottles made by Avent. I already had a few Avent bottles given to me from a friend and I just had to buy some new teats for them so comparing the two was easy.
I paid around £10 for three of these Tommee ... ...more expensive.
These Tommee Tippee bottles are called closer to nature and this is because they have a super soft silicone teat that is said to resemble to breast as much as possible. This I suppose would be very handy if you were breast feeding as well as bottle feeding and perhaps expressing your own milk and using one of these bottles would make it much less confusing for the baby being fed. I however have not breast fed at all so the fact that ...

Advantages: BPA free; good at helping you combine breast and bottle feeding Disadvantages: Bottles can discolour; markings on the bottle are not very clear
...I decided to buy Tommee Tippee bottles after reading on the packaging that they are designed to be as close to breastfeeding as possible. I have now been using these bottles for 9 months or so with both expressed breast milk and formula milk and am very impressed with them. ===The Design=== Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles have teats which are apparently designed to mimic the natural flex, movement and softness of a breast. -- INTRODUCTION --
I am currently breast feeding and bottle feeding little Ethan at the moment, in which the health visitor encouraged it with him being so young it will get him used to bottles. When I saw these bottles the thing that stuck out the most was where it states that the bottles are made to mimic the breast, for easy switching from breast to bottle. There was quite a lot that tempted me to buy these bottles, for the fact also of the anti colic valve it as built into the teats, not that ...

WHAT IS IT?
The product is essentially a large bowl with a clear plastic lid. The lid has two clips ? one on either side to fasten it to the bottom half. Inside the bowl is a blue moulded and shaped rack that has impressions for various products (bottles, lids, feeding cups, lids, breast pump parts etc.). Although the rack is designed specifically for Avent-branded bottles and accessories, we tend to use TommeeTippee (TT) ClosertoNaturebottlestofeed our son and these fit in without a problem. Given the TT bottles are the widest on the market at the moment, that bodes well for other makes and brands as well. All of the parts of the unit are dishwasher safe, and as such are easily cleaned and maintained. If it?s not going into a dishwasher, it should be periodically ...
Advantages: simple to use, space saving Disadvantages: dont really hold 8 scoops
I have just had my first baby and despite trying my hardest to breast feed I have just not got on with it so had to purchase all the bottles and things to enable me tofeed at home and also whilst out and about.
I purchased TommeeTippeeCloserToNaturebottles purely because they were on sale half price at Tesco. However I have been very happy with them. They are quite a strange shape, being very wide, but they are easy to hold and baby loves to drink from them as the teat is very soft.
Every body keeps telling me to make up feeds in advance and store in the fridge and heat them up, however, "current guidelines" state that this increases the risk of bacteria in the milk. So I have been looking at the best way of feeding my baby when out for the day.
I purchased these milk powder dispensers as they fit neatly into the Tommee ...
Advantages: Easy to clean, comfortable to hold Disadvantages: Shape of the teet made it difficult for my baby to use
I originally bought the TommeeTippeeclosertonature steriliser which came with the baby feedingbottles supplied "just incase" breast feeding didn't work out. I was attracted by the idea that they were supposed to be closerto the natural shape and flex of a breast, and the anti colic valve. The bottles were pretty much equivalent in price the the other brand name baby bottles but considerably more expensive than generic "own brand" bottles. In any event unfortunately I did end up breast feeding and ended up buying more TT bottles.
My daughter is still not the best feeder (6 weeks old now) and she really struggled with these bottles. The shape of the teet (the dome shaped base of the teet) made it very difficult for her to make a seal around it which made feeds very messy and fairly windy (despite the anti colic valve). The midwife ...
You have to open the pack yourself lol. I mean really how can there be a disadvantage to this! Well maybe the teats could be a bit bigger but thats it!! (*)
